Tytania
0
In a future where mankind is scattered across the stars, the Empire of Valdana is in control of Tytania family, which forged it's influence through intimidation and economic might. In the year 446, Tytania dispatches a large fleet to sieze a new piece of technology from the city-state Euriya. Much to everyone's surprise, Euriya decides to resist and wins. Their isolated act of rebellion sets into motion a sequence of events that strains the careful alliances and treaties within the empire, as various factions seek to exploit the situation to their own advantage. In the ensuing turmoil, ambitious members of the Tytania Royalty begin moving against each other in an effort to settle old grievances and seize control of the family. What started as an act of rebellion by Euriya, quickly expands into a civil war - with the wealth and power of the empire up for grabs to whoever is bold enough to seize it.
Based on a novel-inspired manga series written by TANAKA Yoshiki and illustrated GANTETSU, serialized in Shonen Sirius (Kodansha)
This has been described as being a complicated space opera or epic. The original story was published as a series of three novels (1988 thru 1991), and is open ended - as in no conclusion or ending was ever published!!
The series uses the same director (Noboru Ishiguro) and animation company (Artland) as the space-epic Legend of the Galactic Heroes.
Taken from AniDB.
I just love this show and I was surprised to see that nobody had made a thread about it. This show is about an epic adventure through space. Where our Protagonist: Fan Hyulick is entangled with the Tytania Empire.
Fan is one of the most loveable characters out there. From episode 1 this series got me hooked.
Be it costumes, spaceship designs or the music, everything is well thought of and well done. The storyline is just amazing and this show makes me think of the good old animes from the late 80's early 90s. (I'm 24).
If you like Science Fiction with a good storyline backing it this is a show for you. There is an amazing cast for the show as well. It can be dramatic or really funny and not to say that I haven't found a useless filler episode out there yet.
There are 19 episodes out and 18 episodes subbed (By ANBU).
These are some pictures from the show
I hope some of you give it a shot and check this show out. It's an amazing adventure through space. A fight from an individual (Fan Huylick) versus an overwhelming Empire (Tytania). This show was able to make me root for both sides depending on what was happening.
Truly worth watching it.

I'm sure there's a topic of this existed before, but I can't find it.. Maybe it's gone by the "Chronobreak" event back then...

Bah At least I'm bringing it back alive. I really would like to talk about some of the latest incidents in the series with other people.
I also think that there was a Tytania thread (was looking for it in fact when I made this one though I really can't remember what people wrote in it.
Either way the first picture in the spoilers make me think of Lynn Minmay artwork from SDF Macross.

Again I thought there was a thread for this but whatever,
Actually this is a series I've been watching since the beginning and have also recommended to a few friends, there's just something about it I like, maybe its the fact that despite mecha it manages to keep its plot going, every time I see a Sci-Fi anime there's plenty of mecha in it to fill an entire solar system. Yet the lack of it here is actually helping it, imo.
Oh, and for some reason when I first saw the OP I felt like I was watching a propaganda video, I felt the urge to sign up for the Tytania army after watching it.
Anyway, I am liking it so give it a try ppl

The thread existed and it was mine :P
The time warp killed it so no harm done. I simply chose not to recreate it because it got minimal feedback (2 posts ?)
Nonetheless I still enjoy Tytania and believe it to be more than noteworthy. I remember saying that I thought that, for some elusive reason people who liked Code Geass should like it and I still do. Battle of guts, tactics, strategy and honor paired with excellently developed characters (often shaped by personal tragedies) who usually turn out not what they seam at first, make this into a splendid watch.
A solid space opera following closely in it's great predecessor's (Legend of Galactic Heroes by the same director) footsteps.
~ 8.5/10 on the dasiek scale. Will earn a 9 if it stays this good till the end.

Well series is done, watched the raws for the last two episodes out of lack of patience nano desu.
As for how it ended, I did see it coming and so should any other viewer, news flash if you were expecting a grand conclusion, or something along those lines, you weren't watching carefully. As stated before, this is a "solid space opera," most of the series was just great character development, sure there was no fat lady singing at the end (only a crying one) but as it stood I enjoyed watching the events unfold, it kinda reminded me of ur average mecha 50 episode anime, were after the first 25-26 episodes the first big hurdle(threat/enemy,etc) has been past(defeated/etc), while making it look like it was the final step. This series had potential to go another 25-26 episodes with the same plot, only seeing it go to an end(victory over Tytania or not), but they opted for on of those, "and this is how it all began" which is alright for me, I just wouldn't recommend this series to someone you wants mindless action/comedy/etc, this is definitely a series for a true fan of storytelling, or at least that's how I see it.

Finished the series 313 seconds ago (plus/minus 2). Enjoyed it till the end.
As for the conclusion - I certainly didn't expect a grand, epic finale since to pull one off, the creators would have been forced to destroy the buildup and pacing.
Still is begging for a second season though ...

Yeah Das I agree. Begging for a second. Thing is the novels never ended. I'm not quire sure why but I'm pretty sure that the story never had a true ending. However how the whole series was paced and especially how the narrator explained most of the actions taken, it just seemed that was just the first act of this epic adventure.
I've never read the novels and didn't try to inform myself much considering I didn't want to be spoiled. However I have yet to see the role the little princess, being captive in Uraniborg, will take.
Overall I really liked the series. This kind of series makes me think about old school anime by it's music and slow pace. I would really like a second season or some OVA's. There is still much to tell and do in this story.
Only downside I see is that they pretty much gave an OPEN ending with a CONCLUDING statement. Nothing is eternal or nothing is omniscient. A galaxy without Tytania.
However I still feel like Admiral Hyulick could have been a little bit cooler when fighting with Zarlish. Don't get me wrong though I know that he's more of a strategy//planning kind of guy; But still would have helped to see him do a kick or something lol.
Great series recommend to everyone.
