Who else thinks the anime Btooom! is highly underrated?

this show was so good! it only had 12 episodes and somehow it made me get attached to the characters and I nearly cried at the end, I just don't understand how shows like Shingeki no kyojin and Sword Art Online get so many fans yet gems like this show are not even mentioned! this is my opinion obviously but what are you guys thoughts? if you watched it, did you like it or not?

Anime works off the japanese otakus buying power and ratings. They thought it was shit and now it's not going to get a season 2. Ova movie is possible. Only a few anime were brought back by the weeb market.
I liked the series anyways.

I thoroughly enjoyed Btooom!, I also liked all the other animes you mentioned.don't get me wrong! I love SAO and im slowly enjoying SOK but they weren't amazing like people said they were, I just feel like some anime are way to over hyped when there are ones like btooom that don't get much attention at all

>I love SAO
No you don't.
I watched a few episodes of Btoom when it aired. Didn't like it at all. Sick of all the shows about games to be frank. The art design wasn't pleasing to look at to me. And I dropped it the moment one of the chicks got raped.

how do you know If I like something or not? It was a pretty good anime and It started strong, SAO even had sort of a rape scene at the end so why did btooom turn you off from the show completely? and if you didn't finished it then how do you know if it was good or not?

Explain further because I strongly disagree.
The rape scene was a way to force the show to be grim and dark. I didn't like that because the show is really shallow and lacks of substance. Of course I can only speak about the few episodes I watched - 1 year ago.

well to start the first 12 or so episodes of SAO were good until Alfhiem online got thrown into the mix, at first I thought it was a cool concept but then it got really retarded, first Kirito's cousin has a sexual attraction to him which is fucking weird and second of all they made Asuna (one of the strongest players in SAO) a helpless girl needing Kirino to save her, the show was nothing more then a harem and a dumb romance, Btooom on the other hand DID include a bit of romance but only with ONE GIRL AND ONE BOY! the show focused more on survival and team work unlike SAO that focused more on how many girls will fall for Kirito. I rest my case.

The first 12 episodes were badly paced. It begins promising but then after the first boss it derails and goes downhill all the way to the bottom. Nothing makes sense. Everything is meaningless and random. And no attachment to the characters are given.
Btoom
The show does focus more on team work which I will admit I liked. It's not like Battle Royale or The Hunger Games where there's only one winner. It's a nice take on it. But it doesn't make up for the other crap. And the the one girl and one boy isn't anything special. It's the same with SAO and every other none harem show. What makes Btoom special is the much bigger age gap, the main heroine in Btoom is like 15 while the creepy NEET is like 23 years old. And then suddenly she becomes dere for his dick. It makes no sense. And don't give me the 'power of love' bullshit, we both know it's just poor writing.
To return to the topic: I don't think Btoom is underrated because I didn't like the character design, they forced drama on you and I'm not fond of video game anime. Accel World, SAO, Log Horizon and Btoom have all been disappointments. And I think they all suck.

I can see your point and I agree with you, It wasn't perfect I admit but compared to SAO I felt like it was done a lot better, maybe one day they will make a good anime/manga about videogames but I feel that won't happen anytime soon, thanks for your time and thoughts!

Sword Art Online and Attack on Titan did better than Btooom because more people liked them, its really as simple as that. I'm still bitter about no season 3 of Darker than Black, but a lot of people hated season 2, unfortunately. I believe the manga for Btooom is still ongoing and I don't believe the anime strayed from it at all, I would suggest you read that if your craving more, its still on my list of mangas to read.

Fucking. Thank you. I've been trying to argue about how awful SAO and Accel World is to my friends and they never ever have a reasonable story as to why the adaptations didn't stuck. I was feeling alone in this world. I have no clue why SAO officially starts at episode 8, because they're moving around way too context from other books.
The LN(at least for SAO) is far more entertaining to read because the way the story progresses in the book makes so much more sense. The sad part is, GGO and Mother's Rosario are better arcs than the first two, Aincrad and ALO. The reason I finished watching SAO was because of Kajiura's great orchestration.
Most of the VR Gaming Series are just adaptations from .Hack anyways, they lack an original element that makes their titles not like .Hack and makes them stand in a different light, at least, that's how I've been setting the standard.
As for Btoom I didn't finish it, and I really don't regret it. I'm so happy to know 「ナノ〠did the OP because I'm in love with her, and her voice. She's a musician that does not focus on any aspect of her visual appearance because it is irrelevant to her performance of voice. Bought her albums before she became popular on Osu!~ and Btoom. 「ナノã€ãƒ½(;▽;)ノ<3

I enjoyed watching Btooom, even if it was disgustingly predictable and a Battle Royale copy with a few tweaks. It's a shame that there will not be an S2. We can only hope for a movie or an OVA.
Nice Nano avi; I'm looking forward to her next album.

Here is the link to the topic I created before "Btooom!" aired.
To be honest, the main reason why I watched the anime is due to the presence of Himiko. ^_^;; I did not feel that the anime was fantastic, but I am still following the mange, purchasing the tankoubon editions when they are released.
Personally, I felt that the manga is much more in-depth, although the storyline between both media formats are similar.

Saying it is a Battle Royale copy is giving it too much credit, but I see what you're saying.
Overall, it was an enjoyable series. I tried really hard to like Himiko, but...mmmm.
