FAKKU Books Update

10
Ahead of our announcements for Anime Expo, we wanted to give an update on some of our previously revealed titles. While most of these updates will be welcome news for our readers, regretfully, we have to share some bad news ahead of all the good news we'll be announcing at Anime Expo. At the end of this post I touch briefly on our progress the past 1-2 years and how things are setting up for the future.

[Namonashi] NTR²

First, we have made the unfortunate decision to drop NTR² from our lineup. While FAKKU is committed to release all of the books we announce, unforeseen circumstances have forced us to strike this book from our catalog.

This was an extremely difficult decision to make, as it was a title we revealed to some fanfare when it was announced. However, we were not able to overcome a number of hurdles to get this book published. From payment processing troubles to difficulties finding a printer to print the book, the issues were so significant they became complete hindrances preventing this project from getting completed in a manner that would be acceptable by our customers.

Fortunately, the artist understands this decision, and is no stranger to the controversy surrounding this particular title, as the title has experienced some push-back even in Japan. Therefore, we have begun talks into the publishing some of the their doujin works (written under the circle name RUBBISH Selecting Squad) to compliment the skateboard collaboration we did last year.

[Marui Maru] W Yome Sand

While not as controversial, we’re also making another change to our lineup. W Yome Sand, a title we had announced last year, had already been given an official English language release by another publishing service. This was known to us when we picked up the title, but at the time we made the decision to go forward regardless.

However in the interest of helping publish even more hentai manga in English (and not doing the same work twice), FAKKU has decided to swap this title with another more recent book by the same artist. We’ll be sharing more details about Marui Maru this later this year. Stay tuned!

[Itou Eight] Retsujou Mixture

Previously announced for release in 2017, we will be rescheduling Itou Eight's Retsujou Mixture for sale in early 2018.

[The Amanoja9] T.S. I LOVE YOU EX1

Representing another new genre we are publishing, we're happy to announce that this release is not far off! We currently have a few books that are in queue to be released before this, but we plan to have this published by the middle of summer. We're also working very closely with the artist on this release, and we are planning to have a new foreword written by the author as an exclusive to the English release of this book.

[Toshio Maeda] Legend of the Overfiend

We are happy to reveal the cover of the second volume of this cult classic! This erotic sci-fi adventure will continue this summer and will appropriately feature a beach chapter! Furthermore, we are on track to release the remaining two volumes over the second half of 2017 (as promised on our Kickstarter). So for collectors of the series, expect to complete this four volume series before the Christmas holiday.

Going forward and upcoming announcements

2016 was a period of growth and development for FAKKU, and one of the growing pains experienced over that time has been how best to schedule announcements and releases. A number of licenses were acquired during that period, and as many of our customers know we have been steadily, but in some cases slowly, going through that growing catalog.

Going forward we don't want to announce anything without a solid time plan in mind, and the reason we can give an estimate for the handful of books above is due to how we finally have a working internal release schedule. Over the last few months we've made many improvements to our book production process, making it more efficient as well as more structured. If we keep on with the current trajectory, it might be possible to shorten the window between book releases, meaning titles like these would get an earlier release than expected. Of course, we can't make any promises, but we're in a better spot than ever before when it comes to books.

As noted above, as part of our road map to success, the remaining three volumes of Legend of the Overfiend will be released in 2017, and these will be additional releases outside of our regular ero manga schedule. Including our most recent release, Melty Maiden, we have 11 more titles planned this year, all adding up to an average of two books per month for the rest of 2017.

We have a lot of exciting news coming up over the course of the next month. There’s a sneak peek coming later this week with our Anime Expo preview, and it all culminates at the actual event in early July. We’ve learned from our previous mistakes, and most of these big announcements will become available for you this summer, so we hope you look forward to hearing more about what we have planned for books, magazines, and other projects!

I'm glad that everything is going smoothly on FAKKU's end and I'm looking forward to what's in store in the company's future. I was a backer for "Legend of the Overfiend" and I can't wait for Vol. 2 and the rest of the series to show up on my doorstep.

Thank you very much for the update, sad that we gotta wait till 2018 for Retsujou Mixture but I am happy that we at least have a more compact release area.

Some unfortunate and some very good news, such is the difficulty in just publsihing sometimes. It's sad to see some good titles being let go but least those very same artists getting other works put down the pike.

I can understand the need to make definite rather than tentative announcements to avoid having to drop titles some have already look forward to. Can't wait to see what's next and thanks for the updates, as always.

While NTR² is certainly not a priority title for me, quite the opposite, I do hope you will keep it in mind in case the situation changes in the future, as unlikely as it may seem right now.

Please, publish the books from Kojima Saya.

I can understand the issues with not being able to do a printed release, but the payment processing issues prevented NTR² from even getting a digital-only release?

Fuck PayPal.

Looking forward to that Marui Maru. He draws some brilliant works and I would also much rather see one of his latest books getting an official release instead of W Yome getting a third translation. I'm pretty sure the carefree sex featuring very curvy girls found in most of his works should go down well around here.... Unless you're venturing outside the norm and picking up his femdom-focused book by other publisher?

It's a shame about NTR², but I hope that maybe, just maybe, some point down the line circumstances will become more favorable and it can get another shot at release.

Anyway, it's also a shame to hear about W Yome Sand being canceled. You guys do a great job with your releases, with them being DRM-free, high-resolution, and the physical versions look great, so I would've loved to get it from you (and doubly so because it's from THAT publishing service). But I do understand not wanting to release a book that already has an English release. I'm glad we're getting another work from Marui Maru and it's great that it's recent, but I hope you'll look into getting their other books as well (whatever isn't already taken), as I love their stuff. Although, it sounds like FAKKU already is looking into it?

I am relieved to see that Retsujou Mixture wasn't canceled, and I'm still looking forward to it even though it's been pushed back.

Sorry to hear about the cancelled titles, but glad to hear Fakku's getting a better handle on publishing. When you said some unfortunate news I thought you meant you'd be going digital only - so glad that's not the case! Really looking forward to hearing the upcoming licensing news!

RIP any chance for loli tanks like those by Henreader and Mochi. As long as there's one loli chapter, like Higenamuchi's Misdirection, then maybe it will get released.

wait, who the heck published W Yome Sand?

It's nice to hear the wait for TS I Love You EX1 is almost over. I was worried that it was cancelled for a second.

R18.com published it. They're part of DMM.com and is basically an English version of their main site (albeit watered-down). The mainly focus on JAV, but they do have a very small selection of ero-manga and even smaller section of English manga, most of which isn't too interesting in my opinion (W Yome Sand being one of the few exeptions). However, since they're a Japanese site, their releases are censored and digital only so I really hope FAKKU changes their mind about this title. Plus, from what I've seen, their English translations tend to be kind of lackluster or borderline Engrish.

Looks like no physical editions, just digital?

@Jacob Always glad to get more info, regardless of the news.

Man, just realized that 11 books is like $242 I'll probably be spending this year!

Indeed.
