Theres no phsycal delivery its a subscripcion to web content so you are going to read it trought fakku website. as far as i know at least.

You're right. It's a web-based subscription service.

What the heck is this propaganda?!
I was looking at the prices for both Comic X-Eros and Comic Kairakuten magazines on amazon.jp and they are priced around 4-6 dollars (new, August edition, not counting shipping). It would be awesome to get the physical (translated) magazines too.

You have to understand we'd have to then translate those books, edit those books, send the content to China and send drafts to the united states, approve/make changes, send changes, and then print (2) 400+ page books... and it'd have to be available every month. It takes ~2 months for a normal size 200 book to be printed and shipped to the United States and mailed out.

The subscription gives you an online service monthly without the long ass wait.

I thought this was already in the process. If it takes more than two months to print and ship then print domestically, it'll save on shipping costs too. I'm sure the US didn't destroy their only printer in that scene from "Office Space".

If you've paid attention in the forums we've talked quite extensively about printing and trying to find local printers. The US doesn't want to print this type of material in chance of some of their other customers find out and not want to associate themselves with that printer.

The idea can't be locked away forever and shame those who bring up the idea. Keep on asking around. Now with the magazines, you tell the printing companies that you guys are going to be constantly pumping out books. That's money and work for them and denying that offer is childish on their part just because they won't print such beautiful pieces of art. If they don't like the idea of being seen as printing "Adult material" then see if they can create a separate division that allows you to print without it being associated (Example - Cartoon Network for young viewers, Adult Swim for mature viewers) and make it as an extension of Fakku!. If you think Fakku! can't handle over 1,000 pages of editing and waiting for approvals then downsize it to the 400-600 pages and BAM Fakku! Magazine every month.

I would much rather have a book than a digital copy that can disappear with hard drive failure, bad internet, forgetting the password to your account then forgetting the password of your email to reset that account (account lockout). Heck, a solar storm can wipe out every electrical device on the earth.

To me, paying for the physical book justifies the cost. Anything that comes with it is a nice extra and is usually not a requirement. Now, we have to pay for something that is digital and that can be easily taken away from us.

Also, non-members won't be able to read anything since all of the unlicensed content is being taking down and what's left is a price tag. Ads will and must be gone since we are forced to pay for a digital subscription which means the end of Fakku! Gold.

To be honest this seems like a huge hassle. I understand the fear of losing all your content since it's digital (I myself hate the growing trend of DLing video games instead of discs), but in this case, giant tankoubans would be brutal to print and ship all over the world. People are already paying the same price as the book in shipping for a 200 page manga; I can't imagine how much it would cost the customer to ship two 400+ page magazines to them.

I mean, it's decent idea, but demanding printers do it because it's free money doesn't mean they're going to do it. Fear of losing business is a powerful motivator and it's why customer appeasing happens all the time.

Fakku had a good formula. Buy the download or book + download. I'm not saying to fully commit to prints. I would like to see print as an option and if Fakku! has a problem with delivering over 1000+ pages then they can make their own magazine (Reduced down to 400-600) which combines the best of both worlds (of both Japanese magazines).

I was thinking more persuasion than demanding the printers and it's not free money, it's business. A boss would much rather have a working machine and staff than constant idling awaiting for orders to walk in. Plus, new editions every month should open up a deal. The only issue is the controversial stories, those have to be removed to avoid any trouble which is something that Fakku! does not want to let go of. So what Fakku! can do is print it's own books. A few years ago, xerox made a printer that can print out books in minutes. No warehouses and it's on demand prints with real time orders.

It's be over 2 months since they started with these free weekly chapters and I was expecting a book to come out of it. Now, I'm just bummed out.

It would probably be a violation of the contract between Fakku! and Wani if they started publishing their own magazine. The specifics aren't known to us but you can't rule out that possible factor.

Another thing, Fakku! has stated that they're also looking for high quality printers. There might be a company or two willing to print for Fakku! but their quality might not be up to Fakku!'s standards.
With the stuff that Fakku! prints it could possibly alienate the printer from the rest of the industry if word got around, especially since the topic of sex is pretty taboo in America to an extent. Fakku! does not print as much as big time clients do. If anything, Fakku! is still considered a small client since their sales can be counted at the thousands or tens of thousands at most.

To be honest, I'd rather FAKKU not make their own magazine. I like the way Jacob has it right now, that works from all artists from the Japanese versions of X-Eros and Kairakuten are being translated, as this way favorites aren't being picked. My problem with FAKKU making a condensed, combined version of the magazines is that some artists I like are inevitably going to be excluded, and that's a big problem for the reason that some artists just aren't as popular as others, even if I like their work just as much as the others, or like it enough to be interested in it. I mean, I've read my fair share of scanlations and I don't think I've seen many translations of Nishi Iori's work, and I think there's even less of his non-doujin work. It's nice to finally have translations of his magazine work on a more regular basis now that the magazines are being translated. In addition, I hope that if this subscription model is successful, FAKKU will be able to expand their operations and translate the other -kuten magazines

Without going into too much details, let's just say our current way of compensating artists is very simple and fair. Playing favorites in any way would complicate things, and at the end of the day, cutting out half of the chapters wouldn't really do much to solve the main issues with paperback versions—such as having no where to print them, or the logistics of having two extra magazines each month on top of a tankoubon every three weeks.

I'm sure everyone here would want for you to be able to walk into your local book store and buy these magazines, but those are huge steps that would have to come later on. I keep repeating this whenever something is discussed, but we're still making baby steps—granted the introduction of magazines is probably by far the biggest leap we've taken since we started a year ago. None of your suggestions are discarded, but it's not possible to have everything available right from the start.

Our magazine team can probably tell you why. It's a name they've come to dread each month. I'm glad to hear you're looking forward to Nishi Iori's works though so that they didn't suffer in vain!

I just saw the price for the printer... Not very friendly. Renting it might work out and they can buy whatever material they want. All Fakku! would be doing is printing and saving both parties shipping. It's not a threat if the idea was proposed to Wani first. How can a printer be alienated if no body else wants to do mature prints (especially high quality prints)? Who ever is rejected can come to Fakku! and print.

Wani has plans for Fakku! because everything could have gone down the tube the moment Jacob got that letter.
If Wani wants to spread, they need Fakku!. If digital subscriptions is the way they want to go then I'm afraid Fakku! is going to end up like an advertisement promising "Good time for $1". But then again this can be a test to see their audience in America and maybe consider the idea of sending translated books over.
I'm guessing their status is Joint operations since they are working with each other(Providing templates, exchanging information, etc). I doubt it though since I heard that Fakku! is translating and editing most of this and scrabbling to get stuff done. Now it sounds like Wani is taking advantage of Fakku! over that licensing issue.

But look, whatever floats their boat. I just don't want to be forced to pay to visit a site that I like without any "major" benefits included. A book or magazine would be great and it does not have to be over 1000 pages worth to convince me.

I just assume that renting/buying and employing a printing press was not an option due to financial reasons. Fakku is still an extremely small company that only employs a handful of people to my knowledge.

If things go well and the company starts to grow, the idea of physical releases for the magazines can always be revisited. I assume printing them right away is just something that isn't viable at the moment.

Interesting discussion, I actually have some plans to do special printed issues of the magazines. They would be extremely limited and we'd do them a few times a year for collectors. Maybe something like a best of 2015 issue, where we select the best chapters that appeared in Kairakuten/X-Eros over the past year based on the response on FAKKU. We could even have artists do new art for it!

That said this is getting off-topic, please make a new thread to discuss these kinds of ideas (because I like hearing them). This thread is about wanting to participate in the beta so I have a list of users I can get in contact with.
