We’ve had plans to publish this book since it came out in November of last year and even though there’s still some time before we start working on it, we’ve decided now would be the best time to announce it given the recent attention.

This is a special book for us for quite a few reasons. As you know, FAKKU has recently taken down all non-licensed content and we now have a subscription service. It was an inevitable move and Kogals, Sluts, and Whatever. is the perfect book to reinforce that.

We might sound like a broken record at this point, but we are trying to build upon the ero manga industry outside of Japan to give credit where credit is due. Gujira recently had a huge loss in motivation due to the discovery of 25,000 copies of the Japanese edition of Kogals, Sluts, and Whatever., their first ever tankoubon, being pirated all over the world. Anime News Network put out an article about it that you can read here.

While the number of pirated downloads doesn’t directly equate to the number of lost sales, when so many copies are pirated, you're going to lose money in the end. Gujira makes a good point that it is a team effort at the end of the day. Our work is also pirated and it’s to be expected, but when it is, I think about all the hard work that so many people have put into it. Of course, my mind immediately thinks about our staff. Our translators, typesetters and designers that are working to make a living. The staff in Japan that edited and put it all together. And most importantly the artist, that wants to create erotic material for a living.

The cover image above is actually the original Japanese version (with our logo), where they chose to use the English word "bitch". Our final version of the title may change between now and when we release, for now we're using that.

Piracy in my opinion is an availability problem, how many of those downloaded would have gladly purchased if given a legal way?

This is the issue that Fakku is fixing at the moment, I don't think I've ever spent so much on hentai since the books were released, so keep them coming and I will keep buying!

There was a time that hentai manga was tough to get. The publishers were few, and their selection even smaller. Importing from Japan was a no-go for me as I detest censorship, and law there insured everything from there was butchered... fan made decensors and scanlations was the only place that I could effectively obtain hentai manga (though I do have almost the entire AG Super Erotic Anthology magazine set :D (sadly started collecting after the first eight went out of print)). While Project-H has been the biggest effort in bringing Hentai to the States, it's Fakku that has changed the face of it. You guys have shown the quality we can get (both in physical and digital form), and we can get it truly uncensored. I hope more artists embrace Fakku distribution - I have stopped downloading through websites and own every Fakku work. Keep them coming! <3

I think using "bitch" is the right call. "slut" might make a bit more sense in plain English, but in the context of this being a Japanese work I think you lose part of the charm if you just translate it to "slut".

Also: Super hype for this book! I've read a few of the chapters that are in this previously and I'd absolutely love to have physical versions (and actually show my support to the artist!)

You guys should totally try and strike some deal to translate that sort of thing as well. I like Gujira’s stuff pretty well and those sound to be right up my alley, I'm just not sure I'd want to buy them censored and untranslated.

Anyway, I'm pretty excited to see you guys doing this book. The Gujira chapters up here already are really nice so I'm sure the whole book will be pretty good.
