So, I've been a user of Fakku! for almost three years now, and I've watched the site change. It's grown, become more streamlined, and continued to stay active and thriving over the years. Though I've not participated in the forums an extensive amount myself, one thing I do take the time to do on a more regular basis is comment on uploaded works.
I like the current comment system as a whole, but one thing I find somewhat lacking is the extent of moderation. I'll be honest in speaking that this part of it is entirely conjecture, but from what I've observed, content that would probably not be desirable, whether spam, pure trolling, or otherwise, will get downvoted by the users, and eventually hidden. It's a decent format, but I believe having a more present moderation force for comments might not be such a bad thing.
I understand that there is most likely dedicated moderation to the forums as a whole, and have observed the rules myself and have tried to abide by them over time. However, I feel that these rules could be adapted and extended into the commenting system as well. To go into mild specifics, under the Do Not Spam rule there is mention of imagespamming.
This could be taken to also mean that posting comments that have an unreasonable amount of breaks, thereby stretching the page unnecessarily could be disallowed. And ASCII art that takes up a large majority of the page, while consequently frequently being upvoted and hiding other, potentially constructive and on topic comments would also be curbed.
Basically my point there is that I believe a set of rules specifically pertaining to commenting could be a good thing to have. I also think to partner that, it would be a nice feature to be able to report comments that were in violation of those proposed rules, or comments that are made by spambots, or other similar junk accounts.
I understand in order to do all of this, somebody must take the time to create the rules and make sure they fit the comments section without restricting what people can say, and I also understand moderating report logs would require extra manpower, so it's not exactly a simple matter of 'just do it'. However, this is all simply a few suggestions/thoughts I've had as I've read uploaded content to the site.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope I've done this post right.

The comments section isn't apart of the forums rules I believe. I mean sure spamming isn't a good thing.

Right, but I meant this to be applied to more the Fakku! site as a whole than the forums in specific.
My point in my initial post is that the forum rules as they are could be edited to cover commenting in some ways as well, which would help cut back on some of the more spammy and completely off topic things that sometimes overshadow other user comments. I do understand that currently the forum rules would not apply to commenting.

[color=#2e1a6b]I don't think spamming is that much of an issue. If people don't like it, they'll downvote it until it's hidden.
The main problem with the comments is that many people post unrelated replies to the top comment just so that they're comment is higher on the page. Unfortunately, there's not really a way to fix it without major changes to the reply system

I think the downvote to hidden works most of the time for sure. However, if the comment is a reply as you mentioned, downvoting it excessively will result in it being hidden, but it's still present on the page, taking up that space; even if smaller.
Even a report button alone would help curb this. Mark it as spam, and eventually somebody sweeps by and deletes the comment.

The only real issue with upload comments from what I've seen is being unable to directly report comments that are blatently spam from a spambot. We do have a thread for reporting spambot sightings though, and they're dealt with that way.
If all upload comments were able to be reported, I'd imagine there'd be a a small few who'd abuse the system and waste moderators' times. There is always one.

I was not aware of the spambot report thread. That's good information to have, thank you.
As far as report abuse, you're certainly correct. But I'd also imagine there are already abusers of the report system present in the forums due to much the same rule. I think the potential to clean up commenting would outweigh the few bad eggs, especially considering multiple cases of abuse with reporting would probably be grounds for some sort of punishment on its own.

Very well said! But we definitely need some more FAKKU helpers to take care of that stuff, would you be up for the challenge?

I'd be more than glad to help in any way I could, of course. What exactly did you have in mind?

Excuse me for necroing a dead thread, but I felt this was more appropriate here than in a brand new thread.
https://www.fakku.net/manga/escort-english
Comments like those found there I think paint a good picture of what I was talking about. Almost EVERYONE who said anything besides "This uploader is a troll, this manga is disgusting" has been downvoted to oblivion, myself included. Now, maybe that's just the intended point of a voting comment system, that the major opinion always shines through, but I'd think it wasn't and it was more a place for all discussion of uploaded works.
As it stands, I see tons of things posted like that where it's not a typical h manga fetish, and people uncomfortable with it feel the need to share their feelings with everyone, rather than read warnings and tags and just avoid the things they KNOW they won't like before hand.
Honestly, the part that irks me most about it is that anyone with a different opinion will, as I mentioned, be downvoted almost without regard so that their comments might as well never even have been posted in the first place. Me adding this update to this thread doesn't really serve for much; other than me pointing out a prime example of why I made this thread in the first place. Once again, apologies for ressurecting a thread that's over 2 months old.

I've seen it happen before on NTR mangas, rape mangas and such stuff, people get downvoted, others get upvoted, it happens, as for that particular manga, i think it has more to do with people disliking Lusty project than anything, if you go to Exhentai for example, you'll see that CGrascal's translations get low rates and anyone who says they like his translations or that his translation is accurate will get downvoted, another example is if people post "i like ntr" or something like that in a hentai they will get downvoted by those who don't like ntr, it happens often and it isn't a big deal, i got downvoted and -reputation many times, it's the internet, if you're worrying about votes and such minor things then its not the place for you, just ignore the comments you don't like and try not to post or reply if you don't want to be downvoted, i learned my lesson a while back, sometimes i get upvoted, sometimes i get downvoted, it just depends, people need to get over it and move on.
I think its better to just ignore them, if you were to pay attention to it things will get out of hand, there are alot of people out there who're trying to bring fakku down, ask njmanga, there was some guy who went around showing japanese artist the site and trying to get them to enforce the copyright laws or something like that, so it'd be in our best interest to keep a low profile about things and just let go.

This thread needs to be closed. I have no physical evidence that Memento_Mari is a complete troll but he is trying to manipulate this community. Just as he commented today on Jan 23rd 2013 on this old thread, he also showed resentment and trolling behavior towards the community and abusing the downvote system. Just as he referred today: https://www.fakku.net/manga/escort-english#7930978. The comments by dafaq/btewmlol has shown that he has made multiple accounts to troll. When I was getting 3+ downvotes to now almost none after revealing his identity, has given me grave disappointment in what could have been a great idea to what this thread was initially about. It is extremely sad though that if allowed, the user Memento_Mari/dafap/btewmlol and some other accounts he may have could have destroyed the Comments system. I am again saying there is no 100% proof, but I assure you trolls like this person should not be allowed in such a good community. If no action is done, that is fine and expected. Trolling isn't a true crime but it does hurt the community.

I don't think it's right to accuse people or report them without any proof, You're the one that's actually contributing to the fall-down of the community, going around accusing people and calling them trolls is never a good thing, who knows, you might be making multiple accounts to troll yourself, since i in all honesty haven't felt or noticed anyone who might be a dupe or an alt. (even though having multiple accounts doesn't do crap).

wordsI understand "worrying" about votes means I might be a little light skinned, but that's not my concern. As I stated when I made the thread to begin with, the comments system could be a much better place without close mindedness and flat out completely unrelated content lording over some of the releases. It doesn't happen with every upload, but it happens enough that I believe it worth looking into and adding changes to.
As far as accusations of me being a troll, or having multiple accounts: completely unfounded and not true. I don't know where that idea got started, but this is the only time I'll even be addressing it, as it's entirely false.
I sought with this thread only to perhaps suggest something the site could benefit from, in a particular area I feel is currently in need of improvement. "Manipulating the community" has never been in my agenda at all, and frankly I actually find it sort of a compliment somebody thinks I'm some grand mastermind trying to take over a website's community. Trust me though, I'm far too lazy to organize something like that.

@Memento Mori
Don't worry about it, it's not like there's a pot of gold waiting for you if you get upvotes, and it's not like you're going to hell or jail if you're getting downvotes, let them be, it's no biggie.
Yeah i don't think you should pay attention to that guy, having multiple accounts won't affect the community in anyway, unless spambots or trolls, which i don't see that often.
all in all, let it go man, when you think about it, it's all just a silly internet moment you happen to experience, not worth even mentioning or thinking about.

But that's not the point of this thread. There's no pot of gold or hell or jail waiting, but there is the TOP of the page, or being HIDDEN and moved to the bottom to take into consideration.
When you further take into consideration that these are users of this site posting these comments; users that generate ad revenue and present a potential customer base for the website as a whole, I think it becomes worth considering that a user's experience in all categories could affect the decisions they make.
Regardless, I stated my intents with this thread in my original post, and would appreciate those posts being acknowledged before new posts to the thread are made.

I believe you take things too seriously, and should relax a bit. i mean just because you, or i, or anyone else was downvoted doesn't mean we should make a thread about it demanding some kind of change in system or getting people banned randomly, it's just a vote in a porno site, i get downvoted all the time, big deal.
anyway, i'll be off to sleep, try to get over it, it's not gonna do you any good, and sticking to this subject will only make things worse, trust me.

Momento Mori I agree with you entirely, its not the fact of the matter of being downvoted or upvoted but instead I feel discouraged by saying “I liked this manga” due to the fact i get downvoted and its like im being told what my interests and fetishes arent right. For example on the release escort i simply thank the uploader njmanga for putting it up on fakku 2 minutes later i have 4 downvotes, and it will continue to do so. If someone likes something I feel it isnt right to tell them that it is wrong.
