[Locked] FAKKU State of the Union 2016

Part of me is sad to see free stuff go away. I never complain because it's free and you are essentially providing content pro-bono.

However, the other part of me is hopeful. Hopeful that going to a paid model will not only provide better content, but more variety. I would like to see this turn into a possibility of bringing more than just manga, but games, and streaming video uncensored. I hate mosaic censorship...

Stay on the right track and things could turn out good. Don't get greedy or people will turn to piracy. People will pay for content that was once free, it's just needs to be appealing and not feel like the money they spend is getting them quality product. Don't be like these companies who churn out half ass products and sell it like it was better than sliced bread. Very, very bad to over-hype shit. Public updates on how subscriptions are turning things around would be cool too!!

My favorite genre is completely gone, so I honestly have no reason to be here anymore. I never subscribed because the majority of things uploaded didn't interest me, and now, pretty much the only reason I was ever here is gone.

Legal is good. An entry-way for providing both the organizational system of this site with a legal way of acquiring it that gives the artists themselves actual credit and compensation for their work? Completely for it.

I will be reviewing my options with you guys. Personally, a subscription based service (which is the norm, I know) is not my ideal method of acquisition. I am particular in my tastes, and paying for things that I don't like isn't very efficient for me. Still, I love this site, and also the owners of it for their honesty and integrity. I may work something out as things develop. Long live Fakku!

If subscriptions are not quite what you want, maybe the books are?

My suggestion. Either get a hell of a bigger collection and bring back some controversial tags or lower the price to truthfully reflect the content you are going to get.

Secondly, Subscribers should enjoy some kind of perk for being a paid member. Whatever you decide is up to you but there has to be something to set them apart.

Controversial tags are back, you just have to enable them in your settings. Not as much content as before, of course, but we are still getting more of these as well.

Subscribers do have some additional perks, though. No ads (although most probably use AdBlock anyway), custom ranks, various additional settings for the forums, read history and read later lists. It might not be the perks you envisioned, but they're there.

What is your favorite genre?

We are making an effort to try and have a wide range of things here on FAKKU. Feedback on what the community would like to see more of is a huge help in our decision making process along the way.

It's sure is sad thing that all free stuff is gone but i understand that removing unlicensed stuff is only way make Fakku legal site and i'm fine with that when now i can enjoy uncensored stuff.

I'm really disappointed that there is practically NOTHING for non-subscribers. Fakku is going to turn off potential customers with the price in addition to the inability to really sample the product. Perhaps a $1-2 single day trial period would make it better? Honestly, if I could spend a day checking if the content is worth $12 a month before I made the actual subscription, I'd be a lot more comfortable.

I have mixed feelings regarding all this.

It's great that you guys support the drawers and their copyright, but is it really necessary to remove EVERYTHING? At least make some content free, if there is anything at all.
While I know that Fakku offers a lot of high quality content, I don't think that it's worth the $12.95. I prefer to invest that money into something else like Netflix for that price. I think $5-$8 per month would be more suitable.

It's just my opinion in the end and I'm sad to let fakku go, cause it's simply not really worth it.

a) Can't have legal and illegal stuff and remain a legit business. They will however eventually make a script to have some of the content go on a cycle as free, so people can test before they buy.
b) $12.95 is more than reasonable for an adult service. It's not in the same category as netflicks or any non adult service. As such, prices, fees and what not are all much higher. It's quite affordable for an adult service. That, and it's also fairly young. Give it time and growth, and price will possibly come down a touch

Let me just raise a point that when some people are asking for some free stuff they're not immediately asking for illegal stuff. Even other adult websites have free samples to offer just to entice their customers. I firmly believe that FAKKU will benefit from having free content. In my experience, having everything behind a paywall can be very intimidating. Especially if there are paywalls behind paywalls. I do not mean at all that you should bring back doujins, though that would be very much appreciated. What I do mean is that maybe you can work with your partners (Wani) and talk about this if they're willing to have make some stuff dedicated for free viewing for some audiences. We must always remember that customers, especially first time customers, prefer to have a taste of what a company is serving before they would want to order the main course. I believe that this would give an advantage to a new company, especially one that's just starting out. And, if Wani does not agree to it, it would always be a good thing to have more partners than just one. Just some thoughts.

Seriously, this. A preview chapter of every artist, four pages long. There needs to be a reason to sub, and previews would be amazing.

Also, possible idea: Two Day Trials.

No more free stuff? Get doing the no scans and subscription but is this pretty much gna b a pay only site now? U guys ran for years for free and now u get profit and ur beating that horse dead. I havent seen anything new that a freeb can look at for a while now. I cant afford to subscribe so what am i supposed to do now?

users claiming that the site has become greedy need to have their heads turned back around - demanding pirated content is greedy. if you love good art, you want those artists to be able to live and thrive and create more good art.

personally i love being able to buy the books (not so much the subscription) - it's a guarantee of quality that i've yet to be let down by.

to your B statement i think its to hight maybe making it to 7, because we arnt getting as much. maybe geting 2 a day even the two, are like 4 pages? and it seems lately the things that where release been bad. im thinking about drop soon also... all the ones i used to read where free and they are better... if the books are coming out faster i would stay but its taking to long to provide more... so anyone know a new site to go? since this one is done?

Well good bye and thank you Fakku.Rip.
I'm from Brazil and here $1,00 = R$4,00 .... so defenitly I'll not pay R$ 52,00 to read some hentai. (Netflix for exemple is R$17,00 ~R$18,00 here)

Everything has to go. No such thing as half legit. The jap companies wouldnt want it either. Do or die.

Thats the price of the 2 books in japan. That means you practically get translation and uncensor for free when comparing to the actual magazine in japan. If thats too expensive, then you never paid for porn. As evidence, you used a general content service like netflix as price comparison to an adult content service like fakku.

If its the amount of content, then its a problem any upstart goes to. So just wait.

Look at the bigger pucture

Sadly no. Allow me to paint you a few scenarios of exactly why:

1) We really want to work with artist _____, we contact them and tell them how much we love their work. We tell them what FAKKU is and how we support the artists. They visit the site and see their original & parody works on the site for free. Something they didn't agree to at all. They turn us down immediately.

2) Same scenario as (1) but they see their friend's art work and get upset / turned off from it.

3) We want to work with company ______ in Japan, they happen to work with the license holders of a large number of anime / manga / game series. They cannot work with us due to us hosting parody content due to not wanting to offend their partnering companies in Japan, which could potentially ruin their relationships.

This is a business decision that needed to happen in order for us to grow FAKKU. To allow us to work with more artists and companies so that we can provide you, the fans, with more content in the highest quality possible.

If you do not believe it is worth $12.95 then that is your opinion to have. Everyone is entitled to how they want to spend their money. Personally (disregarding the fact that I work for FAKKU), I think $12.95 is a pretty fair price to the amount of content being produced. I own over 400 something physical doujinshi and a few books from Japan, each doujinshi cost me about $15~$25 after shipping and proxy fees from Japan -> US. In the US, you are looking at about $20~$25 for a single book of doujinshi if buying it from a vendor at a con. $12.95/mo for access to a large selection of 18+ works from artists that I already support by buying their books from Japan? Sign me up.
