I've noticed a recent increase in Double Posting from new users because there is no thread explaining how to correctly post. I've seen other users ask how to add links, spoil quotes and images, and add youtube videos. Hopefully this will clarify some questions. Firstly, read Rules and FAQ first to understand the rules of Fakku (and specifically for this thread) what Double Posting is as this thread will tell you how to avoid it. Secondly, Fakku uses a "quote" system rather than applying the @username system. Note: Before making your own thread be sure to use the SEARCH feature in the forums to make sure a similar thread does not exist. Try searching key words of the subject you are about to make, sometimes a similar thread may exist but in a different sections of the forums. Another way to avoid this problem is to perform a simple skim through the top threads of each forum. Some threads are constantly bumped, especially in the Feedback, Suggestions, and Support section and should be noted. Note 2.0: Also be sure you start any potential thread in the correct section. Mostly anything can be placed in IB but if a thread is made with expectations of legitimate answers, the user needs to post in a section that relates to it's subject. Note 2.1: One of the most common mistakes new users make is when they start a thread in Serious Discussion that should be in Random. SD mainly consists of debatable or even controversial subjects and should not include threads that are: of a non-serious subject, simple statements of opinion without being open to debate, close ended questions. Note 2.2: When making a poll thread, be sure to offer an "other" option to your poll because not everyone may agree with the options you give. How to reply to another user: click quote button at the top right of each post and add your own text following the text that's already present in the reply. How to reply to multiple users: Right click the quote button and select "open link in new tab" Copy the given text and return to the original tab Quote second user and paste text into box, you should have a reply beneath each quote Your layout should look like this quote reply quote reply Be sure to maintain at least one line below the previous quote. Do NOT reply to a quote on the same line of text or it will result in a improper form of posting. An example of an improper post below: quotereply How to Edit: If you forgot to quote somebody or have any need to edit your reply, click edit below the quote button and apply edits. How to change text: To change text, highlight text you wish to edit, determine font size, font color, font type, or click button of desired effect to apply to text. How to add images: Locate an image on the internet, find image URL by right clicking and selecting "copy image location" (FireFox users) or right click and select properties, copy "address URL" (Internet Explorer users). Click "insert image" button near top right. Paste inside popup box and click ok. Note: For unknown reasons any and all direct image links to the website funnyjunk.com will fail at uploading the image correctly and will only link to the front page of the site instead of the image itself. Please refrain from doing so and do the alternative of saving the image to your computer in which users can then upload the image onto Imagebam or Sad Panda to host their image. How to add a link: Copy URL at top of browser of desired website. Click "Insert URL" button at top right and past. The user may add whatever text they wish to call there link in second popup. How to add Youtube videos: Locate Youtube video, right click and select copy Video URL Click Youtube button at top right and paste inside popup. Note: Be sure to include "http://" at the beginning of the video url to the popup or the video will not appear properly. How to Spoil: To spoil, highlight text and click the white "spoil" button at top right. SOME ADVICE: When replying/quoting someone, take note of text on the right that advises users to use SPELL CHECK and PROPER GRAMMAR. . Final Thoughts: If you've created a thread and wish to delete, relocate, or lock it, be sure to read Gravity Cat's How to delete a thread. Following these guidelines and rules, new users will more likely avoid misunderstandings and better enjoy their experience on Fakku!

Thanks for the quick answer but it seems my pc was at fault. It was probably because of something I did but anyway, after rebooting Windows, everything appears !

Another thing that bugs me: polls with no option to abstain. i often don't agree with any of the choices, but i can only make a post that will be lost in the mix. there should always be an 'other' option when making polls.

I personally think that Fakku should work on that quote thing.
I mean, if people replied in your thread, the way things now, you won't be able to reply all their responses.

I get this may be past necro date, so I decided to make a few addendums if Loner would allow it.

For any links, be it YouTube, images or even typical URLs, do make sure that the "http://" part is there. If not, it won't work properly. Make sure it's not doubled either. It's a mistake that could happen.

Also, regarding images, please. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!

STOP DIRECTLY LINKING THROUGH FUNNYJUNK! It doesn't work. At all!

Notice a lot of the broken images in IB recently? Some are from FunnyJunk. The problem is, opening in a new tab only takes you to the front page instead of the desired picture. Every. Single. Time.

So please. Do us all a favor, and instead do the following if you MUST link from FunnyJunk:

1. Right click -> View image
2. Save Image As
3. Upload saved image to ImageBam or SadPanda
4. Link THAT

Another note on this subject: Depending on what the question is, a "Other" option doesn't help because by answering "Other" you are still saying you know the answer to the question, in those cases, a "None" or "I don't" or whatever option should be made. Even some of the front page polls miss this =/

Examples: One of the polls asked what is the name of a drink into a drink machine. It then listed many options, and had an "Other". By answering "Other" you'd be saying you think the name is another, which you can reply saying which it is, but if you don't know the answer, then none of the options fit for you.

Another was the cards poll. Asking which card games you played, and also having an other as option, but didn't have an "I don't play any" or "none" as option.

I honestly don't think it would help very much to outline something that most new users tend to ignore. It's the same situation for VNs: people ask whether or not a VN is translated into English although there are rules in place.

Well your probably right for the most part but I'm hoping this gets stickied that way we have a reference point and can at least say it's there. I just wanted to be able to provide a link to the new users so they're not spam posting in the threads trying to get a full blown explanation on how to do this or that.

Anything that's stickied is useless.
Masterlist = No one reads it

Tutorials = No one reads it

It's not about whether it's useless or not. It's about we care or not. Noobs/Newbs will always come, but that doesn't mean we should ignore them. "You'll always take a bath, even though you'll get dirty and sweaty in the next couple of hours.

Like I always say,If you see a noob/newb not reading the rule = LINK them
Do not answer any request or their questions unless they read it first.

TL;DR
We make these threads because we care.

well, I think some of newbies (I'm one of them) just don't know where to start, until somebody tells me where I can find guide to post and make a new topic.

I'm OK to be given a link to this place rather than wandering "how to..."
