I think I missed something. Since when was inciting violence a good idea? Because that's basically what that kind of sub-forum would be for. And it would be completely ineffective from keeping trolls and flamers in one place.

Obviously it won't keep trolls and flamers in one place. If you wanted that then you should just recommend the trolls and flammers to be banned. A rant section will help lessen the flames not completely get rid of it.

Like in every forum I've ever come across. As much as a dedicated section for the idiotic rants within would be nice, they vary far too much to just slap a "Right, this is a rant" sticker on it. Rants can be serious, rants can be random and what is a rant to one could be a debate to the next. An excellent idea but I suspect the implementation will be too hard to monitor and moderate.

A test run could work, but if the moderators aren't keen on implementing it, then who's going to keep everything clean? Mmm. We shall see?

I stand for this idea:

1) Because it's my idea.

2) Because I'm always right.


Rules people, that's all you need to keep this palce clean.

Wow, I never thought I would say it, but I like Bluesummers' idea somehow. But I can definitely see why the mods think it would be hard to implement. But it's still worth a try at least.

How many people actually rant though? Is it high enough to warrant a special section for them?


If it does get implemented, rule #1, Don't be a dick. That pretty much solves the rules problem.

Like Tsujoi said, there's only been few rant threads, and they all go into the "Random" and "Incoherent Babbling" sections because, well, they're random. If there's a popular demand for it, which there isn't, a separate section should be added.

Putting aside the flame-war comments, attention-seeking whore disses, and the terrible idea putdown, being able to rant online is in my opinion a healthy thing, except there's no demand for it. Apparently, we've got most of our bugbears and temper tantrums under control. Otherwise we'd all go insane on some level.
