Rep-log & stuff

This is how the ideal rep-log would look, Thread, post, and reason for neg'ing/rep'ing.Spoiler:
It's not something evil, it's just serves a practical purpose.
I really hate that system. Seriously, I rather not know who de-reps me. Also, some of the reasons people give have nothing to do with your post.
For example, I'm active on a soccer board and people like to take rep away just because I'm Canadian and therefore I have no right to talk when it comes to soccer..
Seriously, that stuff doesn't help me at all. The only thing it creates is hate.

I agree with you , KLoWn, that a rep-log system would be useful, but I also know that there are many people who would be better off not having that kind of information in their hands. As much as I hate to admit it, having a rep log may very well cause some division within the community. Take what Azuran said for example. How would you feel if you knew that users were de-repping you for racist reasons?
Another thing, note that this is something that only I would think of, having to leave a note with the reason behind giving rep would actually discourage some fro giving it. I know this sounds odd, but compare the number of times someone has left a comment saying that they + repped you compared to the number of times that you've been + repped. Excuse me if that sounds dumb, but that's just me being a lateral thinker.
I'm not trying to breathe life into a dead argument by making this post, I just felt that I should leave some input on this matter. I am affected by neg repping as well. I have lost over 14 since I have been here(which has been less than two months), but not that it matters. Rep is just rep unless there is a system implemented that says otherwise.
Let me just say this as a parting statement. Knowledge is power. Give power to a sage and he will do many wonderful things, but give it to a fool...

The only thing I do agree with you is the negative rep power thing. I think if someone has a -5 rep then they shouldn't be able to rep anyone. Mainly because they more then likely fail at life. :)

If there were racists around here i'd rather know who they are than not.
Other than that, nice post, but since the topic is pretty much over i don't really think there's any point in me commenting on anything else :?

I thought the whole point to the rep system was about how much that person was respected and what not. So therefore I do not agree to the rep-log, they're just numbers dood.

For example editing manga, however not it is used as the mark of a users respect on the forums.

I don't see the point of a neg-rep log. As everyone else and the family pet has pointed out, that will just lead to repflamewars, and I assume everyone likes those even less then normal flame wars.
The only, and I mean only, way a rep log can be even a smidgen of a good idea is if it only recorded positive rep, with an option to comment. I doubt being +repped by someone will incite people to +rep the other people in turn. It might give you a warm fuzzy feeling or some shit, but it won't start any serious business.
