Like I said before, why didn't you contact us and ask us what we uploaded? The whole point of you reuploadIng everything is that there were a LOT of uploads lost that would take a lot of time and effort to reupload, and it's unfair and unreasonable to make us do it.

Also, I'm curious to ask what exactly the rollback was. I thought it was planned and done so you could add some features to the site. Wouldn't it had made sense for you to at least make a list of what would be lost before you did it?

Another thing, the Psycho, Erect Touch, and Mayonnaise tanks were one of the most recent uploads before the rollback. How did you not remember them?

So far, what I'm getting the sense of is that you poorly planned the rollback and the reupload promise. If you're doing everything by memory, I highly doubt you reuploaded most of the lost material. You would have to have incredible memory to be able to do so.

Please re-upload these.

i seem to recall it being a fuck up. no planning, just 'someone' screwing around with the code and something went horribley wrong. if i'm thinking of the same time. when all those forum posts were lost, back around april/may?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the latest rollback was a technical error. Though it was quite an error, since it supposedly also wiped out a handful of backups that were made during the time the actual rollback to place to the time it reset the forum to.

Yeah, the rollback wasn't intentional, it was due to an error when Jacob codes things. So, it's obvious he can't make a list. No one was prepared.

Why didn't Jacob tell us that it was just an error? If he told us it was, I would have just provided a list of things I uploaded when my memory was fresh.

Oh well, I've given up. Please just upload the things I've remembered.

He didn't say that he didn't know what was lost when he made that announcement. All I saw was a guy confidently claiming that he was going to donate to "all" the translation groups and reupload "all" the lost uploads.

He didn't do number 1 (emphasis on "all"), and he didn't do number 2. Either Jacob has way too much faith into his memory, or he didn't properly explain us the situation (he didn't know what exactly was lost). What he should have done was request us to tell him what we uploaded, while our memory were still fresh.

Anyway, I'm done. I don't want to make this a "Let's bash Jacob thread". I want something to be done. So please just reupload the things I've listed. Is that really so unreasonable? To ask, months later, for someone to do something they promised?

Or, as he said in this very thread you could upload whatever you want and stop being such a child about it. It's not some conspiracy to hurt LWB, I lost 20 + doujins I uploaded as well and I rarely upload so I haven't taken the time to re-upload anything either. On the matter of donations Jake did send donations out and he even offered LWB some at the same time, you simply added another step of trying to commission Nash to have something done rather than giving Jake the pay pal account so he could give you money. You made it harder for him and then bitched when he didn't go that extra mile for you. As far as I've seen neither point you mentioned was a lie and the amount of butthurt you're giving off is becoming a problem, you should deal with it quickly.


As far as the rest of the thread goes what Matt said was entirely correct, conventions came entirely from the Sanshee project, speaking at these cons only began after the group started selling shirts. The advertising on this site is what pays for the servers and most of Jacob's living expenses. What I don't seem to understand is why some of you feel Jacob has to give some sort of accountability for his time and where he spends it. Why can't he go to all the conventions under the sun? It's his website and his time. Another question I have is why do you believe he has to inform you where his money is spent? Or if he is using Fakku money for things unrelated to Fakku. You are not his share holders, nor his boss; you are simply the people who buy his product. While it may be helpful if he were more vocal about things he is under obligation to be. Please remember these points the next time you hear about Fakku at a con.

Wow, that's a lot. Let me give you the tl;dr version: Just upload the stuff I listed. All I want done is for Jacob's promise to reupload the lost galleries to be done. That's what this thread started out with, and that's what I want to get out of it.

Err, do you know how long it took to reupload all of that? Hours. I am not going to spend more time, contributing to someone else's site, due to their own error. It's unfair and unreasonable. It's cool that you're fine with it, but don't apply your standards to mine. I'm sure you're a busy guy as well, but I really value my time. I've been translating non-stop for Comiket the past few days, and I'm not going to give up that time because of something I didn't do.

And it's fine that Jacob screwed up. Everyone does. In fact, it would have even been fine if he simply said "I'm really sorry, I can't reupload everything by myself. Please do it yourself". I would have probably swore a lot, but what's done is done.

But it's not fine for Jacob to make a promise, to appease people at the moment, and then not get back to it later. Whether you guys forgot, or are plotting some conspiracy, I DON'T CARE. Just reupload the stuff you guys lost, that you promised to reupload.

And I'm a bit confused by your donation thing (which I don't really care as much, since I don't really feel comfortable demanding money over the internet). Jacob never responded to my PM about Nash's project. He never PM'd me and offered to donate to us either. I understand if he got a lot of PMs during that time, but don't say that I didn't do enough or made him go through hoops.

As for the conventions, I'm really confused on how to digest it, because you guys are equating it to Jacob's main source of income. Which I find to be just really strange, and a really unstable way of getting income.

Since I don't know Jacob's personal situation, I'll drop it. But you do understand my sentiments, that Jacob should have stuff he promised as a high priority right? That it's pretty suspicious from a person outside of Jacob's life, to see him go to conventions all the time, while stuff he promised to do isn't done yet, or his website has a lot of work that needs to get done ASAP (forgot password button, download links, etc). These aren't big changes or additions in the websites, but fixes to what's already there.

And you're right, I'm not his boss. But I am a member of this community, and I have every right to criticize him, and I think that those criticisms are pretty reasonable.

1) He promised to reupload all lost uploads. It's true that not everything was reuploaded, and it's true he promised it. I think it's then fair, for me to criticize him for not fulfilling a promise he made to me.

It appears he didn't even know what exactly was lost, so it's not even a matter of him not fulfilling his promise, but being unable to. I think Jacob should have either not made that promise or handled it better (ask uploaders what they lost).

What I want done: Just reupload the stuff I listed.

2) He has some things to fix, and he should prioritize that, being the owner of a website. I think it's fair to say that fixing the website should be on the upper part of his to do list. While it's certainly not his obligation to make the fixes, I think it's totally fair on our part to say "That's not really the responsible thing to do as a web owner". I'm not asking for Jacob to just magically wave every problem away, and I understand that he needs to make a living by selling t-shirts. But I think it's hardly out of the line for me to say "You have stuff you need to get onto ASAP". Whenever Jacob has the time, I would like him to get on it. And I would like Jacob to try to do a cost benefit analysis, and try to make more time for his website.

It's fine if he wants to prioritize other things ahead of his website. I did the same thing for ice hockey when I went to college. But the thing is, is that I quit hockey, because I couldn't spend enough time on both it and my studies. I didn't just sort of dick around in limbo, and claim that I'm doing my best, when I wasn't. Not having enough time isn't an valid excuse, it's a reason.

3) Features need to be added. Yeah, a lot of stuff in Feedback. I've added my own thoughts to it. This isn't really a big deal, but I do think, again, that it's not unreasonable for outsiders to raise an eye brow when they see "New Convention!" every week on top of the website. I think it's reasonable for an outsider like me to say "When are you going to stop going to so many conventions?".

Anyway, 2 and 3 are really off topic, and I sort of blame myself for bringing them into the thread. I should have just made a different thread for them. As I've said, just reupload the stuff. There's really no where more to go with this thread, other than to just do it.

I get it Waar, he is under no obligation to divulge anything to us, but that doesn't mean that we are under no obligation to not criticize. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I don't like the way things are handled on Fakku. I think there needs to be more communication. To me, I see the lack of communication between the staff more than the staff in relation to the general members.

I think Jacob's priorities are odd, to say the least. But that isn't my issue, true. Just because it isn't my problem nor anyone else's doesn't mean Jacob may never be held accountable. I know there have been some members of Fakku who have left because they became disinclined to come anymore due to the stagnation when it comes to keep Fakku error free. It's as if everything collapsed at once, and barely any effort is made to pick up the pieces, or rather that is the way it appears to the masses - again, lack of communication.

I can't vouch for the donation aspect because I don't understand the situation, nor am I obviously a part of it, but clearly, even if Red Vodka's information isn't entirely accurate, it still goes to show that proper communication was once again not handled properly.

I started reading then saw the size of your post and decided to stop there. He doesn't have to prioritize anything he doesn't want to, regardless of what you think. If Jacob wants to go to conventions rather than add stuff to the site he can. He has donated to the vast majority of groups he contacted(if you aren't among then then so be it but it was never a lie). If he cant upload everything as you seem to suggest then get over it, whatever was uploaded for that time wont be on Fakku. You mention how it's a lot of your time and I understand, it's the same for me so just get over the fact that he said he could do something he can't and move on. Fakku won't die simply because a handful of doujins aren't on the site. You complaining about it just serves to make you look butthurt.

I encourage everyone to provide constructive criticism about the way I work and the way things are on FAKKU. I listen to all of it and use it to improve things both on the website and with how I work. I am in no way perfect and I have never claimed to be. There are countless things I can improve about myself and with FAKKU, and hopefully I'll do both.
