Avatar Cropping?!
10
Jacob, and I have recently implemented a new function on Fakku that will allow you to crop out your Fakku-sized avatars from any image you upload that exceeds the maximum width and/or height of the forums. We implemented it a few days back, but didn't tell anyone, other than a few people on IRC we had test it.
How to use
Note: Toggle spoilers for an image example
Step 1 Go to your (profile) and hit "Choose file" to open the browse dialog.
Find an image you think would make a good avatar that is above 160x260px, but less than 3000x3000px and also under 1MB. Once you've done that scroll to the bottom and hit submit just like you would anytime you're editing your profile.
Step 2 Upon uploading an avatar that exceeds the forums maximum avatar width, you will be sent back to your profile and given a crop tool to select which portion of the image you wish to crop. You can scale/zoom by changing the size of the crop tool, it will automatically scale the image to 160x260px while keeping aspect ratio.
Step 3 Once you finish that you scroll down and hit submit again, and if no errors have occurred you should be sent back to your profile with your newly cropped avatar. As shown above.
Feedback is welcome, and appreciated. If you have any complaints, or find any bugs, feel free to post them in (Feedback, Suggestions, and Support).
However if you're just commenting that it works/etc you can do that here.

i didnt know that was new when i was working on my avatar but something that made the resizeing a lil buggy for me was that when u try to make it longer or wider both sides move with it

I'm assuming you can crop .gif files provided that the scaled down version is smaller than 1MB. (But you can't delete frames.)

The reason it does this is that it will scale to the max fakku width/height for avatars (again that is 160x260px) while keeping the aspect ratio.

(But you can't delete frames.)Gif cropping works, but the library we're using will not allow them to be animated, sadly. However gifs at those dimensions are a bit rarer, and animated gifs can still be uploaded if they are 160x260px or less.

If you're experiencing issues with the crop can you post in the feedback forum, and include your javascript version, as well as browser? (Find them here)
No system is without bugs, but we tested it pretty extensively before announcing it.
