Backup Your Backups!

So tonight we had some pretty big server issues that resulted in a good amount of forum post data gone missing. We are actively trying to fix it, but the outlook at the moment is grim. It appears that this will only affect posts made over the past month. And unfortunately there was an issue with our backups as well, so we may not be able to recover the data. But on the bright side we fixed a lot of older uploads that had been broken due to an encoding bug, so at least there's that.

Moral of the story: make backups of your backups.

Here is a recap post of everything I have uploaded over the past month. And any uploaders reading this can feel free to make a similar front page posts with your uploads.

It seems most but not all of the posts since January 13th are lost. Some of them are still here... Hm...

if any of you guys posted stuff that you want to recover the text of, type the URL in Google and grab the cache before it's gone...

Rollback till which Date?

Most posts since January 16th until February 25th have been blanked, and most topics created during that time have also disappeared.

You can still access the topics if you have a link, but the posts will be blank.

Hahaha this reminds me of minecraft.

I would work for four hours on a shiny new base just to have the server lag out and then roll back to the beginning of it all...
