Hisashiburi!
Do you think FAKKU Japanese lessons are a good idea?
0
It's good to be back and FAKKING again. During the past couple weeks, I almost drowned in a nasty wave of papers and tests as the semester draws closer and closer to the end.
I would like to take this opportunity to announce that, unfortunately, due to many, many of our team members being extremely busy at this time of year, or pursuing other interests, the FAKKU-Subs team will take a short break. We still have a few releases in the works right now that I'll get out to you in due time, but this will means it will be a while between releases until we decide to get back on our feet. Nikon and I will probably churn out a few speed releases for you guys now and then once my semester's over, but no guarantees.
I don't know how many of you noticed, but I am in the process of writing a story (which you can find here). Currently, only the prologue is completed, but many chapters will follow; the story will be about high-school romance. I will continue writing the story over summer break. There are many reasons I'm mentioning this on the front page, some of which are top secret; nevertheless, check it out, as well as some of the other great writing you can find in the same forum. I highly encourage you to post some of your own stuff too.
I also want to ask for your opinion about something, hence the doubling of this news post as a poll. I am considering giving periodic Japanese lessons on FAKKU. The content will follow the workbooks I used to learn Japanese, the vocab lists and sample sentences adapted into English of course. What's preventing me from just doing it outright is that I am a very busy man for many reasons. So, I just thought I'd see just how much of you would be in support of this. Again this is just an idea; no promises are being made.
On the side, as you all know, I'm an avid Fate/Stay Night fan, and so I took time compiling a brilliant 100% save file. The first page includes saves from the beginning of each day from the Fate arc, the second from UBW, and the third from HF. And last but not least, the fourth page contains saves of the seven h-scenes in the game. Get it here. Hope you guys have, er, fun with it.
Anyway, here's the beef. 19 doujins (as some of you may have noticed, I like to leave one or two blank slots to fill in), to make up for my absence. All are worth checking out, but I will warn you some of them contain more than just regular sex.
EDIT: Added one more doujin from the series High School of the Dead. If you haven't read the manga, do it now.

Awesome update! My friend and I would be extremely interested in Japanese lessons actually. I think it's a great idea and I hope you get some free time to do so. Glad to see you back!

Don't do it, Raze. For the love of god, don't do it.
As much as I'd like you to put even more of your time aside [yeahright], it's just not a good idea. Yes, there are smarter users that will not have a problem with keeping up. But otherwise it'll just be a fest of stupid questions. People who want to learn Japanese seriously should be taking a course [as I am organizing for myself].
Simply: I'm strongly against this idea. Anyone could get coursework and videos from the internet already.

Thanks Raze and I totally agree with the idea of posting some japanese Lessons, but I don't think Hibia is wrong either. If people want to learn Japanese the easiest way is to take a course, but what about those people that can't take it because there is not a place where to learn it, including myself. And in order to learn japanese you defenitly need guidance. So i think is a good idea.

I agree with Hibia, there's no need for you to use up your valuable time to teach people who have other means of learning Japanese.
Well, I hope those tests turned out well for you, Raze.

Even though there are many sites on the web that offer free Moonspeak lessons,(That and College are what taught me to speak and write Japanese)it would cool for those who want to learn to have the lessons here.
Though I think the smarter and more devoted users probally are alreay on those sites, there are still alot of people on here, that could use it.

Personally, I think the Japanese lessons would be a great idea.
Quite simply, because I know this: People are MUCH more likely to WANT to learn if they learn from someone they:
A: Know
or
B: Respect
meaning that, while free lessons are available throughout the interwebs, people are much more likely to lose interest learning from a PDF, a Vid, a webpage, or an .exe.
I mean, it's not like these vids, games, or documents demand or deserve progress or even attention.
However, if it's a real person teaching, then said real person will demand progress and attention. And if it's someone people Know or Respect, they themselves will want to progress for not only their own, but that persons sake.
Also, yay, FSN.

man i agree with hibia, i think its just too hard to organise something like this for a huge online forum.
you guys do enough for us with just the website and the uploads

I'd certainly be interested in some lessons/help learning as i'm unable to afford classes right now, but i do agree with Hibia. It might end up being a lot of unnecessary hassle and stress in the end...

What you could do to teach japanese and not make your life more hectic would be to post those lessons/worksheets on the sight all at once or periodicly over like every 2 or so weeks. The only negative consequence of this would be, as you said your busy, is that who ever participates in the lessons wouldn't getting any help from the teacher (aka you).
However, what people could do is create several (if theres enough interest/participation) online study groups and help and build of eachother; all you would have to do is supply the material.

First off... thanks for everything you do Raze. You bust your ass with FAKKU and I'm sure you do the same with your papers and work. I'm glad a vacation of sorts is in your future.
As for the japanese classes, i think it's your time and you should do what you want to do with it. If you really have your heart set on the class... go for it, but please, don't make it a burden on your time. But, it was very cool of you to throw it out there like that....!
Thanks again for all you do!!!

Personally, I would love to have a place I like with lessons, but I think it would be a lot more work for you. There are many places that are available for learning the Japanese language.
Thanks for the update by the way.

It'd be awesome if you actually got around to stuff like that. I'd appreciate it a whole bunch.
Good luck with college and all that.

This is all well and good, but that means that they actually have no huge motivation in the first place. Meaning they aren't interested in taking a whole 3 years of Japanese to watch that anime. They would just do it because everyone else was and it was there in front of them.
If can't motivate themselves to do something and rely on external sources to get their asses into gear then they should re-think taking the language. I know from what Tassu sometimes blurts out, it's pretty much brainfuck a lot of the time...
It seems like I'm assuming the stance for against.

dang alot of UPDATES TODAY! great stuff.. XD i agree with the idea of posting some Jap lessons also @_@.

Thanks for more updates. I appreciate the whole FSN thing since mirror moon hasn't finished translating it, though I'm probably gonna wait a while and see if they get back to it before I give up hope of being able to play it on my own. As for the japanese lessons, I think posting your worksheets and stuff would be good but, I don't think you should spend your time with the more time consuming stuff as it sounds like you've got enough to do, like work on the story.
