My Favorite Translators of 2009

First off happy new years everyone! I hope you all had fun and were safe and all that nonsense. Over the next week I am going to do something different and talk about some of my favorite things that came out of 2009. The first of these posts will be about my favorite translators, so lets get started.
#1. [color=#9D0A0A]Yandere Translations[/color]
Yandere Translations is responsible for a huge amount of my free time being spent playing games when I should have been outside socializing or doing something productive. With their releases of Wanko to Kurasou, Sengoku Rance, and soon Swan Song, they are one of the best groups around.
#2. [color=#9D0A0A]redCoMet Translation[/color]
After posting their first ever translation directly on our forums, Toradora - Attachment, they created their own blog and have been releasing things ever since. Now a few months later they already have over 50 releases and a huge following. Not to mention Cyatomorrow and Shadow are two very cool guys, so I am looking forward to seeing more of their stuff.

YQII is the first translation group not affiliated with FAKKU to have their blog hosted on our servers. But long before that I was a big fan of their releases and checked their blog regularly. If you like good stories and the occasional loli, you should be following them.
Of course this list could be a lot longer, but I limited myself to three. But don't let that stop you from checking out more. And to wrap things up, follow us on Twitter.

I appreciate the efforts these guys are putting in.
No offense, but honestly reading some of the "translation" turns me off, especially from RC. It's really at a "俺ã‚１２ã•ã„ã€ã“ã‚Œã¯ãªã§ã™ã‹" level.
Hopefully, they will be able to improve on the flow of their translation this coming year.

I gota agree with your top three Jacob cause those are my favorite too,most of my favorite doujins are translated by RC and YQII

I always appreciate constructive criticism... However, this isn't constructive. Please cite some examples of translation that doesn't flow well, and we'll do our best to improve.
I haven't seen your name around before, so I looked up some of your posts. Your grammar is fine, but some of your sentences seem a bit awkward. I was just wondering, is English your first language?

I agree that Yandere Translations deserves some major props for Sengoku, that VN was addictive as fuck, and Swan Song seems to be an interesting game too.

In English, it is more common to use pronouns instead of names. However, I'm sure you're aware that in Japanese this is not the case. We chose to keep the name. This is a stylistic choice that we are going to stand by.

So, in other words, stop using "feels good" even though the text in the bubble says "feels good?" You misunderstand, we translate, not rewrite.

It seems like you don't have a single solid argument against us, but you dismissively label our work as "translations" (quotation marks) and talk about vague concepts such as "flow" without properly explaining yourself.

For those of you who don't know Jaka, he is a staff member of coalguys/gg fan subs. Donnu how many subs he has done, but i think his recent ones were K-on! and Canaan. Also Vampire Bund soon(correct me if I'm wrong for any of these.) But not sure if the one in this forum is him or some other guy.
Anyway, I hoped this sort of thing didn't get put up. I respect any and all translators and fan-subbers, so putting them in order from top to bottom would be plain wrong since they all work so hard giving us things we enjoy so much.
On another note congrats to Jacobs top 3.

Translating doujinshi and h-manga is hard enough, then making them flow with the English language is even harder. These translators really deserve the credit and payment they received from donors. Makes me wish I can read and write Japanese, but that will take years. There are plenty of translation groups out there.

Is this some bigass ego I'm smelling here? I'm not "nit-picking," I simply found a page or two (I didn't even have to look hard), and bam! You're translations stuck out like a sore thumb. Also FYI, I'm perfectly qualified to blog about this because I'm a master at this.

Anyway, if you really think rendering word for word can be called a "translation," I suggest you go watch stuff from A-Kraze and pay attention to the translations. For now, all I can say you're translations are on the same caliber as computer translations.
