BETAs don't fly though, there's nothing to shoot at the skies. They don't need to fly anyway.

How about a drop and sweep tactic, do surface strikes with the garm teams, and the cobras will sweep the remaining enemies.

I don't really have idea about Zeon mobile suits... but anything that isn't free-falling from orbit in a cloud of metal particles will get killed by BETA lasers. Forget air-support. It's all ground warfare now baby.

Anyway, I'll be off for some dinner. Will be back though, pretty soon too.

That will depend on if BETA manage to bring down our line...though I wasn't aware Soviets still had equipment to spare, their army in shambles and everything.
