Immediately after they removed the mantle it couldn't feel anything so that was literally the most humane killing of a squid I've ever seen.

All animals to be made into food at some point are killed, There is often an attempt to kill them swiftly, but that is not always the case.
For us Americans, we usually eat shellfish very fresh or just killed, Lobster, Crabs, Clams and Oysters are almost always alive in a good restaurant as its being prepared or cooked.
Raw oysters are often still alive, and Lobsters and Crabs convulse as they are boiled, sauteed or fried to death. As a Fisherman, I can tell you how the head of the fish is often still gasping as I'm eating the cooked body of my victim....
Death of animals is normal part of how we survive, to think of it as some sort of horror is not a result of you never causing such, it is only that of you sheltering yourself from such sights.
This is of course you are a vegetarian, if that is the case, more power to ya.

In China we sometimes eat live crayfish.Ewww.. eating things that eat rotting dead things and scavengers can kill you. Now boiling them in salt, chile and cajun jizz is the best way of eating crawfish.. or the lobsters who came with the cajun from whitetrashcanada.
