default avatars VS. rep
does not/having an avatar have an affect on rep?

first of all, this is not me fishing for rep, but in my time reading the forums, i don't think ive seen anyone with the default avatar with any rep points. it could be that they didn't have anything good to say(i didn't do alot of research). but i have seen prejudice on other site, ranging from just ignoring default avatar posts, to mocking and flaming.

Nope nothing at all, people -+ rep you for a particular reason like contribution to the community, being an ass or just playing trip.
Speaking of avatars, check out some of my cool suggested avatars here https://www.fakku.net/viewtopic.php?t=26079 for you to use. Have a nice day.

That's because everyone with avatars are very active on the site.

I personally think it helps when you have an avatar, I dunno, maybe it's because the person took the time to either find a picture to fit the max size or they made a custom icon.
Also, you can have rep points even if you keep the default icon. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you exhibit A

That member is unbelievable and even now he still doesn't have an avatar plus he's a Fakku elite too.I guess you just need to post alot on different threads, creat threads and finally you have to be very active as well.

I guess it's true. It is true the other way in any case, have seen people get rep cause they have a nice avi.

Of course it's the post that makes the rep, but by wearing an avatar, you show us that you are willing to show us who you are. People are better in general with images than with words, so it just helps a little.

Only in the short run since staying avatarless makes remembering you a bit more difficult. Stay a while though while posting noteworthy stuff and the recognition you gain will start earning you rep ... or not (rep's a moody and unpredictable bitch these days). The moment you hit a title it becomes even less relevant.

The avatar gives you an identity in the site so that people can quickly identify you
as for rep thats more on the posts you make. usually avatarless people are either new comers or people who arent going to stay too long so you generally wont see them with reps

It must be the whole "take off your coat and stay a while" logic.
By having a blank avatar (unless that's what you favored) it gives off that lurker or temporary user feel.

I don't really think that having an avi or not has that much of an effect on whether you deserve any rep or not, having an avi just would give yourself a bit of an appearance and individuality from everyone else. Rep is only given to those who have contributed to the forums, helped out other users, posted a good post, things like that.

Wouldn't this fit more in Random, then in IB?
Anyways, no it doesn't affect their rep, but I don't really listen to them since they only say thanks or just post "where can I ger [insert name]" and don't bother looking for it themselves in the forums. I don't even greet them in the Meet and Greet. Thats just how I see it.

Personally I don't outright ignore people with no avatars or see them as less important but I already have trouble remembering who is who and what they said, not having an avatar really makes it that much more difficult. Also, perhaps there is a superficial connection between being too lazy to get an avatar and not putting enough effort in to make good posts.

i find ppl without avi's noobs, except Coco cus she's been here for a while and i dont give rep to them, unless it is totally awesome which is rare
