yes of course if ur posts are good u still can get reps ! but it'll be better if u got an avatar, everyone will easy to remember u much more than default avatar i think ! Ruuu...

Avatar is like your appearance/face/identity here. It'll help people recognize you; you can still get rep when you use default avatar, but it's better to have your own one.

Just here to affirm what everyone else has already said. The use of the default avatar has basically no effect on rep. An avatar does make you more memorable. I only could remember Coco-tan as a user without an avatar, totally forgot about jonsmith, and didn't even know about the people KawaiianPunch mentioned.

It becomes easier to to identify users by their avatar pic, and I change mine very infrequently, like every couple of months that's usually a .gif.
