Dialogue

Honestly, there's been more than one occasion where I've said "itadakimasu" when going down on my girl and I often call her a pervert when she's initiating the encounter. Though I've usually done so as a joke, I do still say it. Some couples just enjoy teasing each other more than others, I guess.
Regardless, one of the main reasons I enjoy anime (as well as hentai and the like) is because it does give me an insight into a culture. Sure, there's some things that we might not say and some things that I may find a little weird at first, but you have to remember that this stuff was initially created for Japanese entertainment and most translators try to stay as honest to the original material as possible.
Though I'm not sure if I'll ever get to used to seeing girls say that the guy will make them pregnant. If a girl said that during sex, it would probably almost completely kill the mood for me.

The translator would have to be incredibly creative to change the story when the action is already presented with a change in dialogue. You'd be surprised. There are a lot of rewrites out there, especially of older hentai from times where real translators working on these were still quite rare.

Like, "If you keep going like this I'll get pregnant~" I had to muffle a laugh because I was like "Wow, hentai dialogue in real life. What is this."

[quote="Chocolate Giddy Up"]Sorry, what kind of manga do you read? I don't think I can think of a manga where the dialogue is completely westernized. I have read over 500 mangas which definitely goes over 1000 chapters. The culture, traditions and etiquettes are kept. Just translated to English or left as it is. There is a reason why translators add translator's notice to explain if something isn't common for western people. Also it is not something translators do because they are lazy by "copy pasting" or just "directly translating". It isn't an excuse it is something they chose to do. why should they apologize for the decisions they found most suitable.
About learning the language how do you know they just copy paste? Can you even read the original Japanese text? It could have been something like a Japanese only phrase and the most suitable would be the translation they choose. I know lot of manga where they just put "itadakimasu" instead of just translating it. That is copy paste. By putting "Thanks for the meal" is translating and doing their best to westernize without taking out the meaning. If you feel it is so bad leaving it blank would be even more weird. Also if you don't want to translate become a QC-ER to fix translator's "direct translations". Remember translators are not always native English. They just do their best to find the best suitable translation.
Also just curious. If you don't think "Thanks for the meal" is suitable what would you put there instead. "Gonna suck you hard" ?
PS: if you mean westernized like just putting in "fuck me harder" "fuck me more" instead of the actual Japanese dialogue like some of the clips of hentai anime found on streaming sites then screw you. Hentai is more than just sex.
There's no need for that kind of talk, let's keep this respectful.
True, somethings make it through like honorifics(sempai, kun, chan, etc.), I'm talking about phrasing. If you read a non-hentai manga, they tend to flow a lot better than hentai and there isn't any phrasing that stands out as unusual. I don't have this issue reading Naruto, Desert Punk, Attack on Titan, or any other non-hentai manga. That fact that this doesn't happen in those types of stories raises the question of why it isn't corrected in hentai. Copy and paste was just a turn of phrase, I grew tired of saying "word for word." I will say that the translators not always being of native tongue to the language their translating to makes sense, that's for that. It actually brings a bit of clarity to the situations for me.
To be honest, I don't really know what they should say because, if a woman's about to perform oral on me, we're past the point of talking. If she's the type that is inclined to vocalize what she feels about the "work I'm doing," I prefer anything that sounds visceral as if she's in the moment and not really thinking.
Sorry, but I think I'm completely respectful by the things I say. If anything I think you should be more respectful toward the translators lol. I mean you keep saying they should correct it or fix it or they shouldn't do this and shouldn't do that. It is not a mistake they are making, just because you find it odd it doesn't mean you are right and they are wrong. If you have complains or suggestions you can always go discuss it with the translators but I think they will tell you the same we did. Also you can't even suggest something better so why don't you just try to ignore or accept the fact that this is just how hentai works.
Of course you don't find such things in Naruto, Shingeki no Kyojin etc because it is a completely different genre. Also Naruto and SnK both happen in alternative universes where you don't question the things that happen or are said, while hentai usually is in Real life so of course you would expect 'weirder' or more 'dramatic' conversations which might sound odd for someone not used to them. Hentai without any dialogue would be the same as only pictures. There is hentai without any dialogue too maybe you should try those? Then it is only emotional/fucking and nothing logical involved. Some people just enjoy teasing each other as MrTripStack wrote or in a lot of the stories where both partners are inexperienced they might talk a bit more than between two experienced people.
Actually I thought of a suggestion to Itadakimasu: "I'm going to suck you off now" does that sound better to you? Doesn't something like that sound more forced?

Because it doesn't make sense to westernize an eastern piece of work. Obligatory Asians do it better.

I'm on my phone right now so I can't be assed to go for long retorts against this thread, but this basically is one of the points I wanted to touch on. Changing the line itadakimasu to something like "now imma suck off yo cock like the whore I am" not only changes the tone and dynamic that's actually going on in the manga, but also destroys one of the very reasons a lot of hentai lovers hate porn: westernizing it bastardizes it into some sort of trashy porn ripoff. I know for a fact that a lot of people in this thread hates how fake and tryhard a lot of Western sounds and looks, and prefers hentai because it has a subtler, somewhat closer to real life sex feel (not counting anything that needs tentacles or futa or other fantastical phallic tools).
Sure, there's some porn out there that actually doesn't play out as trashy, like how X-Art's catalogue or most amateur porn actually portrays what sex can be like in real life, but that's in a really small minority and not always synonymous to what people usually think of when they hear of porn. That's why some people read hentai. It's not just some kind of fantastical escape for them, but rather a cleaner, and possibly more realistic look at sex in general.
P.S. Nothing Misaki said was an insult. An actual insult would be something like "if you honestly think oral sex means you're past the point of talking, then you've probably had some really bad lays and hookups in your life".

Thought it was a tad extreme, but I didn't mind it much. Himi-chan got hit with the "how dare you" retort as well so I'm not the only one that was taken the wrong way. Besides I realize that this is less about dialogue and more about the context of words and how the OP doesn't understand what things mean (or even care to understand). OP stated that, "if a woman called me perverted or even just a perv, I'd think I was doing something wrong. If she said lewd, I'd wonder what she was talking about." So for him, this is an insult (like most words apparently) because he is reading too into the words literally rather then looking at it as a cock-tease. To me this means that he has not had much experience as of yet or he is a bit too young and naive. Either way, if you shut down the discussion over such small things, then no point in continuing the discussion.
