Yeah but I never found it made a difference.
ringing looks more lazy then walking over plus they get to see you.
where i work and worked i found that the people who come in and take the time to find a manager have a better chance of getting the job as they can do like a small interview, ie.e they ask what day they can do and if they are looking for full time or part time
The other side of that is walk-ins are usually not very memorable. A lot of the same questions are asked by walk-ins that tend to annoy managers. The manager may also be very busy and taking time off of a task needlessly (in their perspective) to assist a possible candidate for employment. If you call ahead and schedule a time to come in and inquire about positions, you're showing respect to the managers and employees who may be too busy at the time to talk about hiring. It can go either way.
The walk-ins you're referring to know how to interview very well.
By asking question i meant the manager asking question. I have few time when people have handed in a CV/resume to normal member of staff and when the manager rang them fora interview it came out that the person can't do the days/hours the business needed.
It really comes down to the type of business you are applying for.
It is always a good idea to found out about they company, go past it or in it to see if it is a busy place and if they have a website to look on it, then you can decide whether to ring and ask about the job or go in and speak with a manager.
