On my grandfather:

I use my grandfather as a good example of heteronormativity fucking with thinking because in his attempts to understand the gays he has decided that every homosexual has simply been cursed with a brain of the opposite sex. This is weird and laughable, but it's a pseudoscientific explanation based off of the assumption that sexual attration is unidirectionl and tied to sexually dimorphic areas of the brain. I.e. women's brains cause them to lust after men and visca versa.


On gay pride parades:

I agree that this is annoying for the most part. A celebration of sex is at odds with societal values. A celebration of marginalized sexual groups doubly so. I fail to see how it is good PR.

Also some pride events have turned into carnivals and such that charge admittance in some cases. Rather than be a supportive group they can tend to seem like weird clubs you have to pay dues to.
