Yaaaaaay, thanks neko-puu amd melfy~

I am ok with the message in this image, EXCEPT for the whole "patriarchal" thing. I hate when things get blamed on males as a whole, when women are just as much involved in making other women feel bad about their bodies as men. It's a world of Equal Opportunity Body Bashing.

Isn't it more often women things that keep giving a bad picture of how other women should be? Like models, commercials and stuff like that.

Totally ok with the message, because I'm pretty sure they're using patriarchy in the original intended sense, which is something like "the system in our culture that values and privileges males over females." It's sort of a pop-culture misunderstanding of the term that makes patriarchy ALL males fault, when really, it's a fault of the entire society. Women can be tools of the patriarchy just as men can be fighting against the patriarchy. This is why I prefer the term kyriarchy to describe the system--it makes it clear that certain groups are privileged over others, and that there is a sort of "ranking" to the privilege; furthermore it also recognizes that certain women are more privileged than men (e.g. rich white females have more privilege than poor white males, etc.).

Like models, commercials and stuff like that. There are just as many men in the fashion industry as there are women. I remember reading an article of one male fashion designer saying he hated how they were encouraging anorexic models to eat healthy. He said something to the effect of "I don't make clothes for fat women, fashion is reserved for slender women."
Men also make up a large part of marketing, magazine editors, advertising, etc. So whatever the media is pushing to society as "ideals", it's coming from the minds of both males and females to both males and females.

You may have a broadened understanding of "archys", but the average person (myself included) doesn't. When they read a message like that, they are thinking simply "patriarchy > ruled by males" which in that message infers that it is "male-driven media bullshit" which makes us feel bad about ourselves.

Something something feminist mumbo-jumbo... XD
Yeah, that's precisely my problem with the word patriarchy. It does convey the notion that men are put on top, but it also has the connotation that it's all men's fault.

Was that Karl Lagerfield? It sounds like something he would say. I mean, I love the dude, but I wanna smack him sometimes (all the time?). =/
And this is why it's the WHOLE culture's fault--from those who sell it, to those who buy it.

[align=justify][color=green][font=verdana]Eugh. Patriarchy always has such a bitter taste to the mouth, whereas matriarchy never has the same effect. It's a double-standard... which is kinda with the territory really... I won't extrapolate too much, but the use of patriarchy in that picture really rubs me up the wrong way. As you two have already covered, lol.
"Fuck who I like" -- now now, only if the other person consents, hmm?~

I couldn't say, but here's a lovely quote from this Karl guy:
"In 2009, Lagerfeld told Focus magazine that curvy models don’t belong on runways, and the only people who like them are “fat” moms. “ ”Fat mummies sit there in front of the television with their chip packets and say skinny models are ugly,” he said. He added that high end fashion is about “dreams and illusions, and no one wants to see round women.”

Lol, lets not start this conversation again. Apparently, in the US it does apply to both males and females, but in the UK it only applies to males. Not sure about the rest of the world.
But if I drug a man, tie him up, shove a dildo up his ass, and have intercourse with him all against his will...I think he would be saying I raped him.

[color=#006FFF]"Against his will" implies it being unwanted, ergo he wouldn't be applicable to such a statement now would he? (Or as Sam put it. Which ever way clicks for you.)
If you're addressing some situation where a guy does want to engage in such an act, but subconsciously enjoys it, than that's besides the point being made.
Rape is rape.

Yup, good old Karl Lagerfield... I think a more accurate description of how I feel about him is that I love to hate him.

Kinda like... "awakening" to it.
