Hence why I said "if", seriously you read my post wrong. Although that is partly my fault, I was trying to avoid making my post overtly libertarian. Note that I am in favor of marking the host site so that I the user may make the choice.

Correct, a file uploaded to UL or DF is more usable to me than one on RS. If UL DF are deemed unusable then the same goes for RS.

PS: I still don't really care either way, banning UL and DF might improve quality for me so long as all the profiters do not switch to RS.

Well here's my opinion...

I see people upload plenty to DF and Uploading, but I rarely see people with premium accounts to those websites. I've never had a premium account with them, none of the other uploaders I know from various websites, both private and public, have them either.

The real question is, what is more convenient? Personally, when I encounter those links, it annoys me, but I paste the links into Jdownloader and let it take cares of itself. If I see something I really want on, for example Depositfiles, but it's spread across several links, it's highly unlikely I'll have the patience to download it no matter how much I want it.

I'm a gamer and a writer for an online magazine, both of which require my connection to be steady. It can't be steady if I'm being forced to download links from a service I will likely never pay for.

But when I see links on Mediafire, Rapidshare, or Megaupload, I know I'll get it done quickly. Why? Because all three of those services are used frequently enough to justify an account purchase.

There is no justification for buying an account to DF and Uploading. People use them, but definitely not enough to warrant my credit card.

I've read some comments in here where people mentioned they could live with the wait times. Yes, you probably could. But why should you HAVE to? What would you rather download? Ten separate doujins from DF or ten separate Doujins from MF?

Freedom in choice of where you upload is cool and all, but sometimes it's not for the best. There are sooooo many file hosters out there. Maybe if we ban a couple, then they'll actually look for another host.

It's a basic fact that when an uploader finds something to upload to, then they'll rarely move on to anything else even if there are better options. Besides, there are plenty of websites out there. If Fakku takes the next step in encouraging people to use more widely preferred files hosters, then we might see an increase in easily accessible files.

Of course, there are those out there that have problems uploading to some services. I don't really have a solution for that one, but what I do know is that the people who generally have that problem, stick to a working service like glue, without ever trying to find a more acceptable alternative. Maybe banning a couple websites could also encourage them to look elsewhere.

I support the idea for banning those websites.

You are correct, no one is forcing anything, which I believe I mentioned when I said that if I don't want to download something then I won't.

And why is it that every time I give my opinion, someone makes the drastic assumption that I am talking about everyone on the entire planet. A vast majority of the uploaders I've met refuse to upload anywhere else if they have one service they like.

If you want proof of that, I have a really good one: Rapidshare.

Rapidshare has screwed its paying customers more times then any other file hoster on the internet. First, Rapidshare had no bandwidth limits. Within a year they introduced a 50gb limit I believe. About six months later, they took away the bandwidth limit, but in less than a month, just enough time for people to get a lot of sells due to the bandwidth break, they put up the limit again. Their reason? People were abusing it.

Since then Rapidshare has gone down to a 2gb daily limit, and back up to around a 25gb limit in less than eight months. Now they're splitting points so that it's more difficult to buy eyes from their store because technically they cost more.

Despite ALL of that, Rapidshare has millions, MILLIONS, of downloaders daily! Why? Because people keep uploading to Rapidshare no matter how much it screws them. It's familiar and comfortable to them. Because of that, downloaders do the same. I've met a lot of downloaders who won't download links from anywhere besides Rapidshare.

Now again, because I haven't in fact met everyone on the planet, I'm not saying everyone is like that. I'm saying most of the people I've met are. This is a simple case of supply and demand, or the other way around if you prefer.

People want files on certain services, and uploaders provide the files on those services. Rapidshare and Megaupload are the best ones, in my opinion.

In ALL of the time I've spent on forums that have hosted links, I've never seen one person ask for Uploading or DF links. Not once. If so few people are demanding the links on those services, then only the few will actually use them.

So what are those few getting out of it? The demand isn't nearly high enough to keep a DF premium account going for very long. But you can always get money out of it.

People's stubborn refusal to point at a service and say "No" for some nice, but somewhat unrealistic ideals is what makes them keep using them. Still, you're right, no one is forcing me to download the links. I don't HAVE to download them. But just because I don't have to download them, doesn't justify its existence as you seem to think.

Personally, I would like all file hosters to be accepted, but I can't find any logical sense, other then money, to upload to DF and Uploading.

Because if you don't pay to upload, then you're not paying to download either. What does it say when the people uploading to those websites don't even buy premium accounts to those websites? If they don't download links from the very websites they're uploading to, then why are they uploading to them there in the first place?

My rapidshare account is self sufficient. Even if I don't upload a single thing for months I'll still get enough points to keep it Premium. Am I not paying for my uploads with bandwidth, time and effort? Not everything is bought and earned with money.

To be honest, the premium service for MF is actually a lot worse than the free service. ;)
