Wow the top two idiots in the presidential race are LEADING! I hate this fucking country.I found this quote on CNN by a guy under the username bobschoos..
I really want to hit the guy.
There is a great misconception about the Philippines where I have lived for many years. Contrary to what one might think after meeting a Filipino overseas (there are nearly 10 million of them), the country is a basket case, It is populated by a very primitive society whose numbers have grown at one of the fastest pace in the world; a society that has all the expectations of modern societies but incapable of running its own affairs, and corruption is only part of the problems. On the surface, people here are nice and friendly, and always looking for a good time. But when it comes to possessing the attributes of a modern society, the gap is evident. One has to look at the very elements that make up culture (education, religion, family values, behavior, etc,) to determine that there is no hope for this country. For example, there are more colleges per capita in the Philippines than in most countries in the world but the learning, when there is any at all, is strictly by rote with the result that Filipinos are hopelessly incompetent when it comes to using higher mental skills, like thinking, reasoning, or creating. Teachers are hopelessly incompetent and plagiarism up to MBA and PHD programs are not rampant, it is the rule. the primary function of a school is to keep young people off the road. It has a social more than a learning function. Family values simply perpetuate a disastrous situation when it comes to passing on knowledge to the next generation or to finding employment. Nepotism is also the absolute rule. There is no such world as meritocracy here, whether it be in the economy, in politics or in any kind of human endeavors, The only hope of making ends meet for those who were not fortunate enough to be born in the right family is to expatriate themselves and seek employment overseas, as about ten million are doing right now. But if there are huge numbers of Filipinos who have worked overseas, they desire and ability to change things then they return is null, Ninety persons of the people who vote have no idea what they are voting for. It is essentially the candidate who has the largest numbers of vehicles with the greatest sound volume on the road, meaning also the greatest financial resources to bribe the influential members of the local communities who tell his flock how to vote, that wins. If an individual has a different idea on candidate than his co-workers or those in the same trade, he won't dare voting for his own candidate because of fears of retaliation or expulsion. A last word on religion in the Philippines. Catholicism occupies the place it had in Medieval Europe, over 500 years ago. Filipinos are god fearing people in the most primitive sense, and every politician must get approval from the leader of the church before he has a chance to get anything done. The role played by the Renaissance in Western Europe, which often amounted to getting the church out of people's daily lives, was key to evolution and modernization. No such thing in the Philippines. In summary, if you wish to have fun, the Philippines is a good place. But if you wish to deal in anything serious that involves transparency, honesty, responsibility, accountability, with only a few expectation of ever exchanging elevating thoughts about any subject (it's part of culture) then stay home. And if you do come, don't come during election time!
I hope the one who wrote that dies.
You do realize he is a Filipino also? He speaks the truth in a frank and blunt way but it's the truth nonetheless. You hear most people rioting that country is going no where, he is just pin pointing the faults. I agree with most of the things he says.
When I went to school in PI copy and pasting from the internet for a term paper was the norm. When I tried that here in the states I received my first F along with a sore ass from my Pop's belt.
Also, in the election why do candidates have to get approval from the bishop? What if that candidate is not a Catholic but has the right ideals and integrity to lead the country? Does he automatically become blacklisted because of no approval of the church?
Also the part about being born into the right family. If you want to have a successful life in the Philippines it's more about who you know and your relations. If you unfortunate you end up going to Dubai as an OFW to help your family out.

So you're telling me to renounce my country and being a Filipino? If you people really hate us that much then just keep those all up to yourselves. You're corrupting their minds. Why are we still voting? People are still hoping for the best for my country and you people just keep on criticizing it. Well I had enough! Just good luck with you guys.

Why would I renounce my homeland? I never said anything in my post saying I hate my homeland. Please tell me where I said that.

I was only discussing about the article, why are you taking the statements so personal? We discuss about our faults so we learn not to make the same mistakes again. That's what we are taught in history class.
As corrupting, stating opinions is a bad thing? Isn't the Philippines a democratic country where you can voice you opinion freely without being tossed in jail like in communist countries like China?

How does voting Estrada, our "impeached" president have to do with people power?
As for Noynoy....are you really that surprised?

The guy's a fucking retard! Are people really that dumb to vote for a guy who has done NOTHING for this country? Who hasn't even passed a single law? Who can't even get laid without getting his younger sister to pull some strings?
As for Estrada, he got kicked out of office! I think the only reason he ran was so he could end his political career on his own terms and now he's second in the polls?
Dumbfucks. Our country is full of dumbfucks. We get screwed over by corrupt politicians because their actually smart not like the masses.

Just waiting for the old geezers to retire and let the new generation work their magic.
List what you think is a form of corruption.
- Unregulated spending of tax money.
-Politic Killings
- Relieved of offending charges because of higher up connections.
^ I have a personal pet peeve with this one. In my city a board member was street racing and crashed into a well known high school teacher. He didn't even get a slap on the wrist or be relieved of his duty as a board member for CYC (youth for christ). There was a public apologetic statement in the newspapers that day but of course that wasn't an enough.
