I was watching zankyou and it was ok, but I don't see how for fuck's sake could you pick only that one out of this season's batch.

I just don't find any of the anime's stories this season appealing, how is that a measure of my intelligence?

You found zakyou (a somewhat bleak mystery action genre with no fanservice) appealing without bothering with any of the fanservice oriented shows from this season (like Majimoji Rurumo, Momo Kyun Sword and etc). You skipped on dandy (which has boobies and groovy adventure) and tokyo ghoul (which has a more intense story than zakyou) or even Akame ga Kill (simple and gory action story with the occasional fanservice). I don't understand the criteria by which you're judging their stories unworthy of your appeal, so my bets were either a)hipster mood b)you actually haven't payed attention to this season.

Just because an anime has fanservice doesn't mean I like it automatically. Honestly, media preference is subjective. Just because I like one anime with a certain set of themes doesn't mean I'll like another one with similar themes.
