Pizza crusts don't go mouldy. They just get dusty and get very, very hard.

Jokes aside, every smoker hears that far too often, you just end up making yourself look like a douche by stating something like that.

My great grandmother was a chain-smoker, Black Cat, double-lengths, no filter. She lived until the age of 93.

It was a joke, even though it really is bad for your health. As for the two testimonials above mine, not every smoker is that lucky. You're more likely to die early or at the very least suffer some major health problems if you pick up the habit.

The reason there is such a difference between previous generations and current generations in deaths caused by smoking-related diseases is because a larger portion of people from previous generations worked labor oriented jobs and a maintained a healthier diet, overall a healthier life-style.
While it is true that smokers do have an increased risk of vascular and lung-related diseases, smoking is usually not the only thing involved, there is more often than not many compounded factors at play. Unfortunately when health reports make claims related to the effects of smoking you don't get to see all of the other data acquired from patients to go along with it.
Obviously it's still detrimental to your health and starting should be avoided if it can, but for those that do start as long as they don't smoke more than half a pack per day and maintain a healthy life-style they can drastically reduce the harmful effects of smoking and the risk of major health problems earlier on in life. You can't nullify them, but you can reduce them simply by leading a healthy life-style and believe me doing that is much, much easier than quitting.

I am not justifying the act of continuing to smoke, nowhere did I say it was okay for someone not to quit if they lead a healthy life-style. It was an analogy to give non-smokers a reference of how hard it is to quit smoking, so they can better understand the situation smokers are in and not make disrespectful remarks.

nah man, it was a personal quip aimed at you. Don't make things sound harder just cause you fail at it. Be a man and say "I'm not gonna quit". Cause I've been there, i've smoked, i've quit and i can say leading a healthy life isn't easier than refraining from smokes.

How 'bout we just let people do whatever the fuck they want without preaching at 'em from on top the l'il pedestal.
You're the sort that we like to blow smoke in your face.
Smoking has been banned from bars because of your braying.
We're all gonna die anyways, so what's 5-10 years difference, really?
Dead is dead.

BS volleyed on both sides of the bombardment.
Quitting or leading a healthy lifestyle? Neither are easier than the other, really- and some would say that they are part of the same thing.
All I've gotta say is- have as many bad habits as you want, as long as you balance them out with good.

My only bad habit that I'm aware of is that I sometimes stand in the middle of the free way with my hands above my head and pretend I'm a traffic cone

I'm not telling others what's right and what's wrong- I'm just stating my own personal philosophy.
