Why would I appreciate something I rarely find interesting anymore? I'm assuming my feelings for the section right now are what led a lot of the older users away from it.Do you have any evidence to support that besides personal experience? Just asking, not trying to pick a fight.

Try again strawman, I'm not criticizing anyone in that sentence. I'm not even discussing how shit your waifu is in my previous statement, I'm pointing out that people have subjective views and using a common expression to make my point. Instead of reading my posts through whatever personal vendetta you seem to have against me you should actually take the time to properly go over it and understand what I'm saying. Don't let your personal views of others lead you to misunderstandings.
You are not criticizing anybody?
Spoiler:
Yeah, maybe you didn't criticize anybody in that single sentence that i quoted, but the whole purpose of this topic you made is to criticize how IB is currently and how it is not the way you wish it to be.
The reason why i criticized you was because of your poorly constructed sentence, not because of some random personal vendetta. You should apply the advice you gave to me to yourself and sorry if i didn't understand the point you were making with that sentence.

People are more willing to open up their thoughts and opinions in IB because they're less insecure and aren't afraid to step on other people's toes. IB has the right atmosphere, users and leniency to promote interesting discussions; SD on the other hand, well, I'll just say that its title is a bit of an oxymoron at this point if you look at what takes place within it.The claim that IB has the right atmosphere to promote interesting discussions shoots it self on the leg when you just take one look at the topics and posts on IB. Yes, people are more willing to open up, and that is exactly what is going on here right now, people opening up. Just because they don't do it in the manner you wish they would do it, doesn't mean they aren't doing it.
People calling others fags and other names (i don't know if this really is mean spirited or just friendly bashing), constant whining about 'shitty' topics and posts. This is how people open up in IB (it seems), because in IB it is within the rules to do this, in SD on the other hand it is not.
It is a fools errand trying to make IB about debate and discussion when trolls and haters are tolerated.

Explain how a "discussion" that essentially boils down to someone being obnoxious about you calling him an idiot is a non-issue? Well, first of all it boils down to the both of you being cunts.Because it doesn't just boil down to that. Some people wanted to understand my view so we discussed that, they have opposing views so we debated them. It might indeed be the way you described right now but you can't apply what's true for the discussion in the current moment of time to the entire conversation, that's a composition fallacy.

Second of all, it's IB, it moves in cycles, eventually people will get tired of the current state and start posting threads like this, and it will all start over again.I disagree, looking back at the section four years ago I find that most of the threads are more about ideas and less about self-confirmation and simple subjects, over time it degrades more and more, and while there are points where it gets better again the overall quality of threads doesn't reach the average of what it was before.

Nope, it's just an assumption.

A writer doesn't see decent improvement when no one is willing to point out what could be done better.
It's not like I'm disapproving of anyone specifically either unless they're a traditionalist.
Nothing about it is hypocritical. I don't make threads about how much of a shit your waifu is or blog on a regular basis, I also don't complain about new users either.

I'm not letting my personal views of you skew my understanding of what you're saying to me. I get the intended meaning of your words. My comment about the personal vendetta is a presumption I've made after observing the way you've responded to me. I said that because I want you to challenge it and hopefully prove me wrong.

This is how people open up in IB (it seems), because in IB it is within the rules to do this, in SD on the other hand it is not.Sometimes fag is just friendly jesting, sometimes it's mildly mean-spirited, other times it's just mean-spirited. Two out of three times it's said for self-confirmation bias (out of insecurity)*1, which is the opposite of being secure and opening up.
Complaining about threads isn't really opening up, it's complaining about threads. I think what you're describing is more akin to "letting loose" than being secure. In which case it's not really relevant to what I'm talking about.

I don't have a 'personal vendetta' against anybody in these forums or against anybody i debate outside these forums. I base my counter arguments on the merits of the original argument and debate through that, i don't base my arguments on what i personally think about the other party or how i personally judge them or their lifestyle.

Sure this interesting discussion can happen or take place in here, i am not saying it is impossible, but it will take place in the presence of these things that 'everybody' is complaining about as to why IB sucks.

What i don't get is why these interesting discussions or debates have to take place in IB and not in Serious Discussion section.
