Just because something traditionally happens doesn't make it any more reasonable or warranted. Fallacious traditionalism impedes the progress of many societies worldwide but that doesn't mean it has to impede ours.

You can take the suggestions any way you want, but if you take offense to it because of something unreasonable or find it lacking because "it's always been like this" you're an idiot and the forums would be better off without you.

edit: @opan, I think his opening thread covered the direction he'd like to go, he offers advice and guidelines that he believes will reach a positive outcome. Ive asked you before but you were unresponsive about it but is English your first language? Don't think he's looking for an argument, this isnt about debate, it's not one of my thread, he's not me. He wants the forums to change, not to have to argue about it.

I don't know if I trust any information about pyre but they did seem to use it as if they knew him personally over skype.

As for your previous comment; no I didn't have to spin it that way at the end, but I did because I don't hold punches. From my experience people tend to take harsh truths to heart more than they do truths hidden behind facades of social pleasantries.

I want to drive the discussion of ideas rather than events or people. The discussion of ideas brings conflicting opinions, debate, interesting topics and more importantly the chance for people to learn and grow. Xenon pointed out this rather elitist sounding quote to me through a private discussion:

Though it does sound rather arrogant there is an important meaning to those words that shouldn't be overlooked simply because someone might have taken offense.

Rather than discussing pointless things like eating subway or how much of a shit your waifu is I'd like to see topics that are actually interesting and get people's minds running. IB thrives when there's drama going on, and there's rarely a better way to stir up some drama than having people discuss and debate their ideals. I'm going to make an effort to generate this kind of discussion (this thread is a good start) and I hope other people will join me. And maybe, just maybe, it will shock a bit of life into the section and more newcomers will be attracted here and we can bring back some of the older members who were once active in the past.

Last I checked there was this girl named Tegumi who moderates this section called Srsrsr discssion where people go to be srsrsrs and it slightly amuses me why you didn't go to sd to start a revolution? Because then Tegumi would tell you to get the fuck out? Or is it that you actually enjoy the company of autistic randomness that is ib? And you're just trying to break free from your seriousness posting in it? But why change it then? Can't you just appreciate how it is, since you keep returning to it every other day? And instead of asking people to change how they are, why not try it with yourself?

And i don't understand the point of making IB into a debating/discussion section when we already have a Serious Discussion section in the forums. I am not saying you are not allowed to do it here, of coarse you can debate in IB if you want to and create topics to stir debate, but why not do it in the Serious Discussion section? Then you wouldn't have to whine and bitch about trolls constantly making 'shitty' threads or 'shitty' posts.

People are more willing to open up their thoughts and opinions in IB because they're less insecure and aren't afraid to step on other people's toes. IB has the right atmosphere, users and leniency to promote interesting discussions; SD on the other hand, well, I'll just say that its title is a bit of an oxymoron at this point if you look at what takes place within it.

I didn't do it to make waar's statements less credible or attack them in some way, just to give credibility to my own. He was just stating his personal views that he doesn't know if he can trust me and I can understand why he feels that way. It's not like he's saying that he outright distrusts me or that other people shouldn't.




Read above. I'm not a fan of SD or the users that frequent it, IB is a better environment for generating intelligent discussion.

I don't see how the majority of threads being about similar or "autistic" topics over and over again is random but okay. And if you want me to start pointing out more of the metaphysical relationships and problems with the way people post in this section to enforce how it isn't random at all, I will gladly do so.

You don't read many of my posts do you. I don't have to "try it with myself" because most of the time I do post in here it's to discuss or debate an idea. Not all the time though, I don't mind mindless banter every once in a while, but for the most part I don't reply to anything that isn't going to lead to an at least mildly interesting conversation.
