Is it crazy to learn japanese for manga, games, etc.

So many great games that I would love to port that never make it Amuricah. Plus being able to watch/read anime in jap is appealing.

You can get a job in Japan as an English teach with ANY college degree. I say learn Japanese, go to college, and if you can't get a job in the field you want right away go there for a while.

So what? You have potential to make a career out of it. There's always demand for billingual individuals to be translators.

I don't think you really need a reason to learn a new language. I've always had an interest in learning French, though I would get nothing from it other than personal satisfaction. I don't watch French shows, movies, or listen to music. Don't know anyone who speaks French, yet I still try to learn what I can every once in a while.

Couldnt hurt, I wish I knew another language, I dont have the time for it.

I'd say go for it, there isn't a reason to not learn any language or even anything if you can. I'd be doing the same if I had the time to be honest. Who knows, maybe this learning experience opens a lot of opportunities for you in the future.

Also, who cares if you "end up" being a weaboo. If that's your drive to learn something new, then you have nothing to be ashamed about. Just like 'freak said, we are what we are.

a college degree
a clean criminal record of sexual offenses or felonies
(not required) recommended you know fluent japanese


And they pay for your boarding, along with a decent paycheck.

See? Learning another language is never a waste, especially if it's Chinese or Japanese.

Learning a new language is always a positive thing even if there's no actual reason to.
