Hmm.. I hadn't considered that. I would call it dishonest dealings, but I respect that a bisness has to make money somehow, and it is technically a very savvy way of doing it.

Like PCs, they're always in need of upgrading.

Yeah.. lol, my bro got a new one last week and I was so jealous. But it did set him back a lot of money.

lol funny you should say that. At the end of last week I started having issues with my sound card. I'm in the process of replacing it. It's fine sometimes, but the drivers don't play nice with my system and cut out at random. I checked it for malware etc and ruled that out. Turns out the card is just old and is becoming unsupported.

I'm getting the same problems with mine.

In my case, I found disabling the sound enhancements helps sometimes. I dunno what OS you use, but I know that on Windows 7 the way enhancements are handled is by an open ended scripting method that allows for companies to tell your system how it wants to handle features of your sound. As such, if the drivers become too old, sometimes it doesn't communicate with your system right and either crashes the drivers or bogs the CPU down.

Disabling sound enhancements on my active sound device makes it so that the system has less to handle, so the errors aren't prevalent.
