What put me off Accel World was more the way he looked, not that he's fat because I honestly couldn't care less but the fact that he looked almost identical to a fucking chibi, it just looked retarded when everyone else was normal.

Accel World is horrible. The idea is great, the world is kinda cool, and the side characters are awesome. But I have never, ever, ever hated a protagonist like I hated the tubby little cry baby. There is really no way to describe how absolutely annoying and pathetic he is. He goes beyond anyone's sympathy and ruined the entire show.

They were trying to pull off the "he's a whimp but he'll turn better" but unfortunately they turned him into too much of a whimp early on, had he not been so much of a cry baby in the beginning it would've been fine.

The problem is he never does get better. It is horrible because he essentially is happy when things are working, then practically wants to commit suicide because he comes across a challenge.

That's why we're laughing at him.

I wouldn't know, I stopped after approximately 7 episodes.

The idea and character aside from Haruyuki are all good.
Hes probably meant to man up but never does, They dragged his weak character through the mud and left him there to steep.
