on-topic PCs are obviously better for games, but at the same time my PS3 is not going to get a virus nor will i need to buy a new one every 2 years or so just to run a game.
You could always build one? There are step-by-step instructional things online.

Pfffttt.... PC gaming. Don't these kids go to arcades anymore?Aren't arcades sparse these days? I wanna play Gauntlet Legends/Dark Legacy with random people again. Welp, bus stations and cons will have to do...
The jester is the best character.

I liked the Valkyrie and Archer. Glad I'm not the only one who played it.

Even if you build one decent parts are gonna cost a pretty penny
At least upwards 500 - 600 dollars for a decent computer, not including monitors

The very fact you are even thinking of comparing pc to console is laughable. PC stuff is updated almost every month. Xbox have very few upgrades and ps4 had almost none. The only thing xbox has is the larger community. But computer makes old games seem like they have good graphics and also have an advantage with consul commands (skyrim, etc.) There's also all the left4dead and cod:waw zombies maps that have been modded. Im not going to bother with the fact that you can get games for cheaper or just torrent it since i use the xk3y, but the xk3y and other stuff like jtag and rgh are horrid to install and run into issues eventually. Yet i dont do pc gaming since i have a 1999 cpu and a notebook......

We're talking something that will have games made for it pretty much forever. Is easy to upgrade if you need to. (but that 500-600 will last you quite a few years)
costs less than a ps4 probably will, and will last a lot longer.
Doesn't actually get virus' unless you're retarded/ don't know what you're doing/ are 12.
Trust me. I've just built my own computer (Been meaning to for years) cost me $700 for all the computer parts, the monitor, and the mouse. Had everything else from the previous ones.
And ever since getting this, I haven't really touched my consoles. This is well worth it. Two screens, and awesome specs for gaming.
And as said, you don't actually have to rebuild every two years. If you build one for 5-600, it'll be able to play games for probably 10 years. It'll just slowly go down in the quality (ie games will get better and better, so you'll have to run them on lower quality) Think about it, the ps3 has a set graphic and cpu, and you can't upgrade them. So, if you wanted to get better graphics and shit, you'd have to upgrade, you couldn't just chuck in a newer graphics card, and be away with it. Sony would set your dick on fire.
And besides, the ps4 will come out soon, and once that's out, the ps3 will be phased out pretty quickly.

You are shopping at all the wrong places. $700 USD is more than enough to build your own functional gaming setup.

As the others said, you're ranging from alienware price to mac prices there.
$600 will get you a decent computer, and you'll be able to play most games in higher graphics. 2k would get you something overly stupid. top tier graphics card, top tier cpu, top tier everything pre-much.
5k, that's mac territory.
As I said, I paid $700 for my parts, my monitor, my mouse, my keyboard.
Got my cpu, motherboard, psu secondhand though. But, new it wouldn't be much higher.
Phenom II x4 955 BE
Gigabyte 970a-d3
Corsair vengeance 8gb ddr3
MSI 7850 2gb overclock
2tb seagate hdd
1tb caviar green wd hdd
LG 21.5" 1080p screen
Rat7 mouse
IonZ 600w psu
Varies other parts from the older ones/ got for free, such as sound card, dvd drives, etc
