Unless you're buying pretty outdated stuff, you should be fine.If my my desktop was still working(finished in 2010), it could still play most modern games at high settings.
There isn't really a future proof computer or parts, but there's still stuff out there that could last a few years without being irrelevant.
So I should be fine with my pre-built desktop with this in place of the stock card for a few more years?
The 6670 is pretty old as it is and worse yet it's low-profile, that price is also way too high. If you spent an extra $50 - $60 on a video card that isn't low-profile you wouldn't have to worry about upgrading so often.
Buy your parts from TigerDirect or NewEgg.
I'm running an i3-3240 @ 3.4Ghz and a 1GB XFX Radeon 7750 with 8GB of Corsair @ 1633Mhz. It cost me about $500 to build two years ago and still runs every game on the market on high.
your lips were moving but all I heard was blah blah blah blah blabidiehublaow!
you're really smart! wow!
Do you think I care about whether or not you read a reply that wasn't directed at you?

Went to Newegg to look for a 7750 and this piqued my interest. Would this be a good buy?

That is literally the card I have in my machine right now, no problems with it so far. It's a tad bit old but I find it handles most games quite well, Crysis 3 on high and can be overclocked a decent amount, at the same time it's pretty power efficient. Just make sure you turn anti-aliasing off in most video games, huge FPS drop for little visual improvement on resolutions above 720p.

Also, what kind of PSU are you using? I wanted to know since I'm still using my stock 300w and was wondering if I should upgrade to a 4 or 500w before buying it.

Definitely not, with the video card, 2 sticks of DDR3, 2 80mm and 1 120mm fan(s), the i5 processor, 1 HDD and a DVD/CD RW drive the rig should only use around 215w - 230w. It runs Skyrim on the highest settings with ease, same goes for Sims 3 and NFS: The Run
