so if everything I've read about the loss of scanlations is true, Fakku is going the way of HentiaKey. How close am I on this?

It's more like Crunchyroll than hentaikey in terms of how things transpire. Both Fakku and CR got official licenses while HK doesn't and just lock stuff behind a paywall, all your money doesn't go back to the creators if you bought a HK subscription.

Thats good to know. I really don't mind supporting content creators, especially if it is of high quality. The kind of quality that you know someone put effort into.

now that you mention crunchyroll, do they provide anything else than streaming?

They offer digital releases of manga as well.

Meh, not good enough to be appealing.

I'd say a CR subscription is appealing if you've got a tv that can access it and hate commercials.

Fair enough, even though living in France makes things a bit different for me. (especially the catalog, considering other services have licenses here that crunchy has in the US.)

EDIT: fix'd the quotes

I'd say it's not worth it personally. About 4 shows have piqued my interest so far. There's none of the mainstream good shows, unless they are brand new and mainstream. The off to the side popular ones aren't there, and it has a massive collection of really weird and random shit.
I'd give it a scout before you decide on it. Linustechtips usually does a 30day trial deal for people

Yeah, I'm a lurker. So let's get the initial "fuck you"s out of the way early.

I've been with the site two years. Not as long as some of you, for sure, but long enough to get attached.
I understand where all of the yay-sayers are coming from, I do. I want to support the content creators, I want it to be a legitimate community not just a site full of stolen material. But it's hard to afford $20 a book for every book when you work for minimum wage and want to read hentai every week. It's hard to afford subscription fees that cost as much as a WoW account. It's hard to constantly keep opening up my wallet and dumping money down something that I've already seen for free, namely titikei.
If you want to switch Fakku over to an entirely pay-walled website, fine. If you want to make everything you offer expensive enough that you can get-rich-quick while still supporting the artists, fine. Good luck to you and I hope it pays off.
But I'm not going to stick around for it.
I don't have the money for that.
And honestly, I'm a little sad about it.

I must admit, I've frequented this site for 10 years (maybe more/less, it's hard to recall. I had another account for a long time before this one), and it was fun while it lasted. I don't blame Fakku for going legit; far from it, it seems to be the way for them to proceed. Nothing wrong with wanting to get paid for your work. But the days of getting my daily free doujin are ending. Sad times.

Fakku, I will miss you dearly.

I can still read the doujins in my favorites, are they just deleting the licensed works and leaving the doujins based on popular shows?

I don't think anyone is here to say "fuck you".

I do understand where you are coming from with the price point. Fakku books and a subscription are pretty expensive especially when you compare it to free. Most people are used to, and expect, free porn. But Fakku is trying to be legit and is offering a higher quality product as a paid alternative. Fortunate for me I can afford such things, and fortunate for you there are still plenty other scanlation sites on the web. It's not the end of scanlations or free porn, hell Jacob said there would still be a free section on Fakku. Scanlations are just going away on Fakku and I can accept that.

Well then, if I remember correctly, this is the last day. If so, then to quote The Undertaker:

REST... IN... PEACE.

I just have to link this:

RIP Fakku, slowly but the numbers don't lie.

Nice to know from which countries most fakku users come

Can't wait to see Jontron and Gamegrumps doing ads for Fakku.

On a side note, I hope it's not out of line to say I'm sad to see this occur. Fakku has always been a home to me, and while I long ago accepted the turn to pay-to-play content, I didn't foresee them deleting their entire catalog of "unlicensed" free books. Out of curiosity, what style will these take after?

Will it be like the copyright stricken uploads that have comments, favorites, and essentially the page intact or will they be removing all proof that these uploads ever existed?

Honestly am gonna have a hard time considering if I should use the rest of the day to finish all my college apps or if I should "browse" the site a final few hundred times.

I wonder if fakku is going to start streaming premium hentai animations with subs on day of release. That'd be cool.

I'm a lurker too, mainly because I never had nothing to say haha.
It's great that Fakku decided to support the artists, sadly for me, this is the end. I'm not on a country where I can sped 13 usd for fapping lol. I do wish there was a system like crunchyroll where you can have it for free some time later, even if it was a month or something like that :/
