Well, I simply do not know if I would be able to find a third-party mediator within the game or Skype that both me and her party could trust (i.e. I trust you but if we tried to do something over Skype, I don't think they would trust you with the full details). Another theory comes to mind, though less likely in my opinion this is also a possibility. During my observations of society, I've often noticed that most people are more sensitive with people they consider special and usually become more upset than usual when that person does something.

It is possible that the girl also likes you and that caused her to act more irrational from your mistake, people are like that, can't really express what they truly feel. (Tsundere?)
With that said, if this theory is true then the way I would go with it is, and this is quite risky as the stakes are quite high emotionally, to confess to her. Risky but it could work, if you confess to her, she may feel relieved that you feel the same way as her(this is of course if this theory is true) and perhaps this could bring an end to the dilemma and make it for the better.
However, like I've said several times now, it is risky so I don't suggest to do it unless as a last resort. The stakes are high, you could end up emotionally devastated if this isn't true but the reward may be worth the risk. I wouldn't understand since I've never been placed in this situation before so it's up to you whether you think this is worth it. In the end, this is just advice I'm giving you, nothing more, nothing less.
And if this does end well, this will be a better love story than Twilight!

I certainly hope that this is the case, as I would really hate to be forced to shut her out of my life. Incidentally, the guy is going back home in about two weeks, so if/when he starts ignoring her in favor of his real girlfriend, I may be able to employ the confess tactic once she starts getting really lonely I guess. XD

That is a good sign, it makes the possibility of what I've just said even more. In any case, I do also hope that this is true as it would be unfortunate otherwise.
