The Calvary concept... Have been talking about traditional horse Calvary in the modern military not so long ago when I think about it. Could work for irregular or mountain forces also for parades and for riot control...

I'm pretty sure if you've approached Kei on this, he'd have said the same thing but beside the actual use of cavalry on the field, I believe partnered horses have a similar effect on the soldier's psyche as those in K9 units working with a squad dog.
On another topic, here's an interesting piece of handiwork
A piece of history from the Vietnam war and before that, late WWII as well. This SVT-40 has been modified extremely by some ingenious homesmith. He's completely remade the lower receiver with some sheet metal and given it a pistol grip and folding stock that looks like a piece of bicycle frame.
And the clincher is how it's modified to take an old British Bren magazine. Brings to question whether the magazine is modified to take 54mmR or if the rifle to take .303 British. Perhaps the smithy has even just not bothered doing any modification at all, leaving the magazine to load .303 into a rifle loaded for 54mmR. Wouldn't surprise me given the track record of homesmithies.

Oh yes. He was the one who suggested the irregular and mountain use of the horse.
As that SVT: I can't decide if I like it or not. On the one hand it seems like more solid than other amateur/garage/kitchen gunsmithing (whatever you want to call it) I've seen over time. On the other hand I would feel a tad nervous with the thing in my hands loaded and against an enemy.

Indeed, if they threw it over to me without telling me anything, I'd be very apprehensive of using it. I'd especially be wary about that magazine modification although it must clearly work if it's survived the war. Still would rather a traditional SVT over that garage mod.

Yeah SVT is a bit nose heavy compared to what we have today... (well heavy in general) but it ain't a half bad shooter.

I usually just consider it SKS's older and bigger brother even though that isn't entirely true. It's still humorous to think of.
On another note, we might be seeing a cute little thing coming to the conceal carry market.
Taurus' new "Curve" .38 ACP conceal carry pistol is an interesting thing that's been announced recently. Not only is is particularly small but it's main design feature(which it gets its name from) is that it's frame is curved to fit into the user's grip better and sit along the contour of their body. It is a semi-automatic, DA only polymer pistol that loads a 6 round magazine meaning 7 rounds total. Total length is 5.18 inches or 13.2 centimeters and weighs 290 grams(unassumingly unloaded). For the most part, this pistol is made completely out of polymer plastic, save for the steel slide and barrel obviously.
The pistol has an integrated laser and light(which I personally don't like but understand) and features a trademark "Bore axis sighting system" which comprises of a lateral and longitudinal line intersecting at where the bore of the barrel would be at the rear of the slide. Interesting design and definitely helps give it less profile than conventional sights.
What I find adorable about this is how it has the little clip on the side like a common pocket knife. It's good because that removes the need for a holster which I imagine would be a fucking pain to get that fits this shape, unless you've got experience with using Kydex ofc.
Overall, I think this is an interesting pistol. Definitely wouldn't be my choice for CC(not that I'm allowed to here) at least until it's reliability is proved. Taurus have a bit of a bad rep when it comes to their 1911s from what I remember.

That certainly is an interesting SVT there, Val. Certainly would've loved to have seen it when I was in Vietnam. It pretty much turns it into a larger caliber AKS, doesn't it. Still beats the tacti-shit SKS's I've seen all them mall ninjas parade with. It's tolerable because they are so many SKS and AKs in the world but SVTs are an uncommon sight to behold, especially the carbine model which this definitely seems to have originally been.
Not much of a comment from me about that CC pistol, it's definitely gonna get lotta attention though, as does anything that boasts revolutionary technology. Not too keen about that bore axis sight, obviously it works for this particular thing but anything with larger widths and such would make it hard to use since you're trying to center the pistol by lining your target with the ends on the edges of the slide. But you know, it would be pretty cool if those lines glowed in the dark like night sights.

One would hope so. I figure those would be fairly standard now with most current production pistols. It's not hard to produce, just painting dots on existing iron sights work for most people already.

Hmm that Curve gun... Well.. as long as it has that laser it is illegal in my country.
They surely topped themselves a weirdest looking gun of the decade... maybe even century. I am a bit skeptical on how well it will perform as well because of A) the reputation of Taurus and B) every gun has it's childbirth sickness.
The clip thing on it is actually fairly common thing. Have seen it on a lot of Glocks and other DAO pistols. I have a holster that is made similarly and my gun keeps slipping from how I usually carry it downward by rotating to the left. Of course that is a "full size all steel 1.2 kilo 16+1 9mm autoloader" AKA heavy bitch to carry but oh well. I love the gun anyway. :D (I have an OWB leather holster which I prefer because it is more stable)

Dunno what the format Kei's having here so I'm gonna leave it to him to choose the position name. Still, you're a regular here so I'm sure he's fine with you taking a position.

Yeah, I forget the details but my country has a restriction on certain grade of lasers, safer to say that this one's is a no go here either. And yeah, I imagine the clip should work well with this one considering it's small profile and light weight.
Still, if it was me, I'd keep a holster as well.

I like older camo. I like some ways the new cammo patterns are going but some are... weird to say at least.
To be quite honest. Vz. 95 is actually reworked ERDL with a colour palette more suitable to our land... Cut is something I would do completely different but this is about cammo patterns: Yeah some old camos like M81 Woodland is quite nice... Not that effective in this place except early fall, but still... Old camos are nice... Usually.
