I'll admit I find some of your laws funny... Like the Sig bracelet it was okay for a year or so but suddenly since January 2015 it is forbidden to shoulder fire it. Or that pistol with a stock is an SBR... By your law-technical lingo everything full auto is a machine gun... I dunno it just feel kinda ridiculous and confusing as hell until you get used to it. Here the laws are much more simple though EU has brought in unnecessary things... Hoplophobics...Meh it's an easy target that makes the look good while actually just annoying a smaller of the crowds... But when you start bring actual logic in they win because they can play on feelings in much broader spectrum than we can... Mälmstrom is prime example. He leads an anti gun campain for legal firearms and further restrictions to fight armed crime in Europe... They can't understand that the root of the problem is the illusive black market... or they don't want to see it because if they can take the guns that are actually visible and registered it's so much simpler for them to do and they will still look good in the public for doing something while actually doing more harm than good in my opinion...
Gah... Sorry about the rant but especially in the times like these with certain organization on the Middle east, domestic fanatics rising up and with a fucking Russia going all "CCCP" again in Ukraine it really drives me in the into being uncertain and pissed off especially in how our economical management of armed forces turned out in last 20 years... Simply: Our armed forces are a definition of SNAFU.

A shoestring used in a certain way is considered a machine gun here, I think the arm brace is now illegal too. Ive been thinking of making an SBR or SBS but I'm not sure which rifle I want to do it to.

Well I dunno all that much about 5.56/.223 rifles concerning short barrels but 5.45x39 goes fairly good when you look at the performance of AKS-74U.

I don't own any rifles in 5.56/.223 so I'm not familiar, A nice AK-74 would be nice to buy though if 5.45x39 wasn't too expensive for what it is here.

Heh 5.45 is uncommon here as well. As far as the "assault rifle" family of cartridges go the most common is 7.62x39 because CZ 858 and others semi auto derivatives of Sa Vz 58 run around 242$ for a brand new one. This baby is striker fired so the trigger is damn good and army surplus mags are like 3$ a piece in every other army shop. Surplus ammo is around like 20 cents per round if bulk purchased usually C.I.P. certified from South East Europe or China.
I guess second place takes .223/5.56 but the investment for both rifle and ammo is much higher.
If we talk pistols from what I know almost everybody is sporting either CZ 75 or Glock (there are people like me that have H&K wet dreams though... I LOVE USP! or Sig etc. etc. Also Norinco has some market presence). Most popular is 9mm though .45 ACP also fares well because of ball ammo performance. Wheelguns.. I know some people like them we even have a domestic manufacturer but did not seen them that often.

What do you own? VZ-58's cost around 379 USD online here and I've seen them in person for no less than 600, they look like fun though.

Yeah, prices in Europe are quite different. CZ 858 and second hand market are only instances I am familiar with that are under or around US market prices for this country.
Me? I have CZ 75 (Pre B) and CZ 858 so far but there are many guns I'd love to buy eventually.
To name a few USP, FNX, G3, P38/1, CZ 82, AUG, Tavor, Benelli M4 (I am still divided on Remington 870 VS Mossberg 500), ACR and others. I wouldn't mind some AR platform in the future as well. The only problem right now are finances 'cause studying.
You?

I'd love an AUG or MSAR but the prices here are way too high for them. Personally my taste is in Historic weapons and milsurp so nothing I own is very new with some exceptions.
Spoiler:
M1 Garand, Yugo SKS, N-PAP M70 AK, Mosin Nagant 91/30, Stevens 520-30 Trench Shotgun, Dan Wesson 357 Magnum, Norinco 1911A1, Glock 19, Rohm RG10, Jennings J-22, and a Sears single shot shotgun. Im probably going to buy an Enfield No4Mk1 or an A2 style AR-15 lower next.

Impressive. My personal taste is that a new gun should be in a different caliber than the one already owned if it doesn't have a specific purpose. For example right now I am thinking about purchasing a compact or something that would be more comfortable to CCW than full size all steel gun. I am still undecided on whenever go with 9mm or .45 but for a completely different reasons than in the US. Basically here we're limited to ball ammo since hollow point and other cartridges with "increased wounding effect" are Class A restricted item. Basically you need a special permission to own/buy it and in self defense situation it's actually legal aggravation. The advantage of hi-velocity light bullet as 9mm is therefore less favorable than bulkier and slower .45 under our laws. But as I must be budget minded the .45 is generally double the price of 9mm per round.

It hardly has and recoil and is very comfortable to shoot for a long time, it just took me a bit to get over the fact its striker fired with no manual safety.

To be honest I don't really fancy DAO mechanism. I prefer SA/DA. For a carry gun in ideal condition I would favor HK USP Compact in 9mm but they're not that often to come by (Also I think not many people realize it is also a polymer gun). I also like HK ambi mag release style.
As far as carrying my CZ 75 with the OWB holster I have right now carrying it is easy I basically am comfortable enough I can forget I have it with me even though it weight almost 1,3 kilos (some 2.8 pounds?) with the new 16 rounders (old mags are 15 rounds).
As for how I carry I do condition 2. The trigger job on my CZ is pretty good. For once the gun is same age I am. From 80's 'till about 1995 are considered the best quality production in CZUB, also Pre B CZ 75 is still favored by some for smoother trigger over 75B model. because of that and/or maybe because the previous owner while pig on maintenance used it as range gun and not carry gun the gun is a bit worn but solid. One thing everybody know about the old production of 75 is while the guns are solid the polycoat finish sucks with majority of guns produced. Mine is not the exception... Am actually thinking of getting it refinished because the coating is off at the spine of the grip and rust is the universal enemy.
One thing I am proud about my gun is it is tight fitting even after over 20 years but not overly much so. I ate that wobbly clacking of barrels I hear when someones manipulates guns with slide locked back because there is too much space.

I thought about getting a CZ-82 because I had a Makarov at the time and would be able to share ammo, but I couldnt find one in good condition, The USP is a solid pistol but part of the reason I bought a Glock was due to aftermarket here, I still need to get night sights and a steel guide rod for mine.

Yeah I can understand the aftermarket. Here it's quite the same USP doesn't have that many aftermarket mods as Glock and having both Germany and Austria nearby makes the logistics at least a bit simpler.
CZ 82 ain't a bad pistol but there are some things that are not as good. Especially hammer spring often weakens over time and leads to misfires or so I heard. Also finding one with a good barrel is a challenge at least here because they're ex-service pistols for both Army and Police. From what I know the best pieces went abroad from storage some even in mint state.

I had the chance to hold one and before I knew anything about them I thought it had no rifling left because the rifling was polygonal. It was also a two tone and I've heard some bad things about them though so I ultimately didn't buy it.

Well it is basically a double stack poly rifling makarov but there are some already mentioned things, BUT if you get a good one it should last for a long time. Also there is a civie version CZ 83 but I believe that one was made dominantly in 9x17 and 7.65 Browning using normal rifling. Though I think some appeared in 9x18 as well... This gun is a lot about luck.
EDIT: Also it favors hard ammo due that type of poly rifling.
