Tipping the people who handle your food.

After careful observation and working those types of jobs, I figured out a general profile of people who tip, who don't, and the amount.
People who tip:
Lower class working people: Most of the time they also work or work those types of jobs and in states where they are paid federal foodservice wages(2.75-4.25hr) tips are necessary for living. Place like cali you're paid 9$ min wage but tips are necessary since the cost of living is higher.
Middle class non white collar: They can afford a 20% tip.
Govt workers: They eat out a lot and usually in a few place out of a short lunch time. If you stiff people who see you a lot then the service is meh. Tip enough your usually served better.
People who don't:
Mexicans: a big majority... damn near all of them don't. A fair number of American born do... but my pops don't... i have to go to the bathroom and sneak back to the table and leave some.
Yunopoors from non English speaking nations: It not like they don't tip back home but they think they're sneaky because they fake no knowing it.
Chinese: I have never see it ever. Chinese nationals... the American or Canadian do and they tip well. Non of the other asians do this. Indians also tip bad.
People tip bad:
Blacks and Jews. Not even a racial thing. Most tip tax or barely tax. General rule is double tax with is 15-16%
People who tip good:
Middle class and people who like their service and see the people hustle for that tip.
The japs do tip well. Generally 25%.
If the person served you well you should tip them at least 15%. Remember ever fuck with people who touch your food. They can and have did something with it if your a cunt.

My dad calculates the tip to exactly 15%. I just eyeball about 20%. Both middle class white folk.

Generalization of what I seen. Nothing is exact to all people. Every one is a snowflake.

I'm mexican and I tip every single time.
Seriously, though I'm not not mexican, I have seen them give tips.
Also, I do tip every single time, since I work in shitty fast food joints, janitorial jobs, and pizza places mostly.
Right now, working as a night custodian for my local Thriftway, pay's okay at 11.50/hr, gets me by while I go to college.
Though minimum wage is all the way up to 9.50 here now, but cost of living is still pretty high.
Not as high as our neighbors down below (Cali), but I guess if you couple in ridiculous prices for necessities (3.49 for the cheapest gallons of milk, for example, 4.39 for alpenrose. We're talking about wal-mart prices here, btw)
I remember the day when milk was sold for 1.50 a gallon here... that was only 5 or 6 years ago, iirc.

Actually walmart food is more expensive then store prices. Gal of local brand milk is 2.49. Walmart milk is out of state and 4$

I like to leave a tip whenever I eat at pizza restaurant. 25% Usually. Unless I screw up and bring less cash than I thought. Math's not really my strong suit..
What about haircutter places? I also tip at those places.

In Germany (and maybe just in Europe in general) tip is just added directly to your bill, regardless if you pay with cash or not. At least from what I experienced when I visited my brother.
But otherwise generally I make sure to tip. Even if it's just writing it after using a credit card. Besides it being common courtesy I know what it's like working for minimum wage in California. You're not gonna be able to pay off rent for an apartment that costs at the very least $1000 on 9 an hour (it used to be 8 until recently).
I personally have not worked at a resturant that isn't fast food though so I don't know too much about tipping habits. I don't really have any black friends, and my Mexican friend is half white. I don't have any Chinese friends either.

I'm a big tipper if I have the cash. I always feel guilty if I'm eating out with someone and they don't bring money to cover their half of the meal because I generally won't be able to pay for their meal and a tip.

Here in Sweden people tend to seem confused about tips, with reason cause wages are generally decent enough without it and some, if not most places will include tips on your tab.
That being said I always tip if nothing is explicitly stated about tips being included in the price. Having worked both in the food and the club industries I know what a thankless job it can be sometimes. Having to survive only on your tips the last week of a bad month is never fun.
10-20% depending on service.

Anyway, I live in oregon, so these are untaxed prices, ofc.

I prefer it when restaurants include tip in the tab so the waiters are at least guaranteed some money. I usually try to get 10%, round up or down to the nearest whole number. I almost never tip in coffee places though, at most I'll throw the change from my order in there.(inb4 nagging baristas)
I can't say any of these observations are true based on personal experience but foreigners sometimes usually try and feign ignorance and sometimes get annoyed when they see the tip included in the bill.

My family usually tips 10% for breakfast/lunch. A little less if the service is terrible
For dinner it is always 15% or a little bit more if we loved the service.

Unless the service was downright horrible, I'll try to tip at least 5 dollars or 15%.
Reminds me of how my mother tips. She used to serve so she'll tip fairly and accordingly, but if the ask. "would you like your change back?" she won't tip.

I try to tip when and if I can. I've been on both sides, and lemme tell you, a good tip/pay is always appreciated, given how much work sometimes needs to be done.
