Tipping the people who handle your food.

Usually if my meal is like 14 or 16 dollars I'll just throw a $20 bill down on the table and go. Easier than waiting to get change.

I'm black and sometimes I'll tip. It depends on how steep the bill is. I always tip at the Sushi restaurant I frequent.

my friend tries to tip 20 dollars for a 40 dollar meal. I used to have to redo his tip cause he'd end up with no money. I usually tip 5 dollars.

I prefer it when restaurants include tip in the tab so the waiters are at least guaranteed some money. I usually try to get 10%, round up or down to the nearest whole number. I almost never tip in coffee places though, at most I'll throw the change from my order in there.(inb4 nagging baristas)I can't say any of these observations are true based on personal experience but foreigners sometimes usually try and feign ignorance and sometimes get annoyed when they see the tip included in the bill.
There was a change in the way that automatic gratuities are taxed at the beginning of 2014, most restaurants opted to remove it, at least in my area.
Also, as a service industry worker, my minimum tip is 20% cause I'm on that strugglebus too.

Here tips are on your bill if it's a party of 8 or more. Hence the high price restaurants are the big go get the job places. Denny's vs The French Laundry

If anyone put a "minimum tip" on my check I'd just leave a few pennies because fuck them for telling me what I should pay them, you aren't rendering any real services by walking food and writing shit down on paper. I tip but I would never tip that person.

That's stupid, why would I skip out on a good meal that I didn't have to cook just because I don't want to tip? Its not really a matter of whether I can afford it or not, its just me being cheap. If I think the bill is high, I'm not gonna willingly add on to that expense out of good will.

But isn't that like buying a Porsche and not being to afford insurance?

Here in Sweden people tend to seem confused about tips, with reason cause wages are generally decent enough without it and some, if not most places will include tips on your tab. This, I get that tipping is a thing in countries where the minimum wage just isn't enough but in the UK that just isn't the case, so if it's not included in the bill I won't tip you for service.
Unless, of course, they go beyond what I'd expect of normal customer service or I were to be in a foreign country where tipping was the norm.
I've been to Florida a few times and happened to forget, I was actually followed out the door about it, it's pretty damn hilarious.

Then you are also lazy, don't go to a restaurant if you can't afford or are to cheap for all parts of the experience, go out to fast food.

That's a terrible analogy freak. You need insurance in case shit happens, what does tipping have to offer aside from making you feel like a big shot?

Living with one's means. Don't buy stuff you can't afford the extra stuff comes with it.
