In the US at least, it's something that we (males) are encouraged to lose as soon as you can to be a braggart or whatever. While I'm the type who thinks that sex is ultimately just a biological function, I would still prefer to have it be personal and meaningful; not just a hotel room party. Maybe I just have a unrealistic and romantic view of it. I try not to let it bother me too much, but sometimes it almost feels embarrassing.
