Avatar was alright. Reminded me of Monster Hunter in some parts. It definitely did not live up to the hype though.

I never watch movies when they come out. I only rent them, so I have not watched these. Sorry I can't be part of the conversation. >_<

It definitely did not live up to the hype though.I think that Avatar is a movie to be recognized, but only for it's sheer power and beauty in it's effects. The movie had a simple, obvious/predictable, "Colonists push out Natives for personal resources" storyline, and because of that I think that it doesn't deserve all of the credit it has been given.
I did like it, but not nearly as much as everyone else seems to. I would much rather watch something else. My favorite movie (that isn't animated) is easily "Sweeney Todd" though~ :3
