why almost all hentai are censored?

I too cant fully understand why they censore it since hentai is for mature people...
I think its like with porno.
There is hardcore porno which shows dicks, pussies, tits, and we now other sort of porno common known as erotic which doesnt show nothing but tits.
So I think its the same as for hentai.Ones is not censored and we can see everything, and the other one is unfortunatelly censored and we are forced th watch a censored version...
But this decision is made by authors of the hentai. 8)

Yeah I think its weird as well if its porn why dose it need to be censored i doubt the people looking at it will be offended.

Of course, it's always wonderful when one can actually find a version of hentai where someone/group that got rid of the mosiac, whether they be some fan(s) on the 'net or some company here (in which, it's probably best to watch with the original dub. :D )

Censorship is the law in Japan. Hentai that aren't censored is either because its licensed outside of Japan ... like America, where there is no such law thus the "full" version can be displayed (95% of the case) or because they were edited by fans using image editor (5% of the case).

If I remember, the law in Japan is that pornography is illegal. Pornography in Japan is defined as the accurate/realistic depiction of either male or female external genitalia. thus, when computers became commonplace, real porn was back in as a mosaic could be applied digitally.

Most of the time the censor doesn't really cover a lot, but for some of my favorite hentai vids, it's sooo censored that I don't really want to watch it anymore, and that sucks. I have seen a lot more doujins being uncensored lately, so hopefully more and more doujins will be decensored. But for now, I think we can deal.

Not true. The requirement to censor porn is part of Japan's constitution. I've looked. It's not an issue of merely voluntary self-censorship; it's the law.
Most of the pressure on Japan to alter their porn industry in some form or fashion is from inside Japan. Most of them are deranged cults, who have somehow evaded the bad PR that brings and gotten themselves into political power, and their political allies.
There's also some pressure from UN subsidiary committees as well, which has fuck-all to do with the US.
Odd thing is, many times, there have been polls circulated among porn consumers in Japan about whether they would rather do away with censorship or not, and the overwhelming response is always "We don't mind the censoring. It's pretty much a Japanese thing now, isn't it? Besides, after awhile, your brain filters out the mosaics and bars."
