its not impossible, but at this rythm could be real someday, if you consider one problem it could be we need to expand more, i mean more "propaganda", spread in the world, and reclut more people, but i say again at this rythm its very possible

We're talking about the world here. Anything can happen. So it is a possibility but I think it's unlikely. Otaku's seat number for ruling the world is I don't think anywhere near the top.

I think Americans throw around the word "otaku" too much. It used to be that if you even knew anime existed and liked to watch it, you were an otaku, because it was a very underground thing. But as the years went by, and as anime came on TV and was called "anime," and it was more prominent in stores, there became a bit of a distinction between hardcore fans and people who just watched it on TV.

Nowadays, thanks to the internet and the ease with which people can download anime, there are a lot of "casual" anime fans, who tend to irritate the hardcore or older fans. Everyone's run into a few of these people. For example, fans of Naruto who started watching it on Cartoon Network or reading it in the American Shonen Jump, and then started download the fansubbed episodes and scanlated chapters and think they're hardcore because they get the latest stuff from Japan on the internet. True, they're a tier above people who only watch it on TV, but they're still at the bottom, unless they watch other series.

I sound like an elitist jerk, but I'm not trying to be. That's just the way it is. To me, to be an otaku, you have to have more than one anime that you watch, and you have to be geeky about anime, in some way. Whether it's buying merchandise of series or talking online about shows or looking up news about anime series in Japan and America or whatever.

There's a distinction between being an anime fan and an otaku, and a lot of the people who buy manga and DVDs aren't otakus (at least, in America). They're just fans, and otaku will never rule the world because fans greatly outnumber us. And in a few years, the fans may lose interest and like something else more. In fact, that's already happened once before, and that's why there's not a lot of anime on TV anymore, because fans stopped liking anime as much as they used to.

No. I don' think that the otakus will ever rule the world. We simply don't have the motivation or drive to achieve global domination. And if we ever managed to achieve some supreme method of communication or some global dominating technology, we'd just use it for hentai.

Lawl, I imagine that the knowledge gained from anime/manga and the like can be quite useful and applicable in reality. I've had dreams before where the United States dissolved into civil war, with my great knowledge and military skills, I was the leader of a new country made up of Michigan and the surrounding states. Allied with Canada and kicking ass. Still waiting on that Zombie Virus ^_^

well, now a days you see alot of tv shows ,movies and cartoons being made with an anime style, and things from anime being made. I heard that in japan they made a robot girlfriend that moves and works and a power suit you could rent over there.Imagine if we could get a real otaku as the president things will be great.

Well, even if all otaku like us become The Ruler of the World. Won`t war break out so easily??? I can imagine a WW 3 and 4 will happen just because a certain anime char faction insults others anime char. Hahahaha, not that impossible.
