Forgot my safe word
Primary melee weapon: Spear (gives reach, penetration, easily manufactured)
Secondary melee weapon: Indian War Club (small, heavy and maneuverable)
Fallback melee weapon: Bowie Knife (heavy blade, durable edge and everyone needs a blade!)
Primary ranged weapon: Crossbow (silent, accurate, and recoverable ammunition)
Secondary ranged weapon: Slingshot (very silent, light, unlimited ammunition)

I think I'd go with a Nodachi Japanese sword depending how reliable and easy to car after or I might have to go with a long sword.

And if i could bring someone with me it would easily be Bear Grylls.
We would eat all kinds of different zombies all day.[size=4] and drinking our own piss.[/h]

Chainsaws are too risky if you are not strong.
Knives are fast but too weak.
I'd go for the "machete" cuz you can control it well and it deals moderate damage.

I'm sure someone has already said this, but a Machete would be possibly the best melee weapon you could get your hands on. and I know people are going to say "Katana" ok good luck getting your hands on a real one and not a fabricated one.

Exception of the halberd and the crovel, I own almost everything mentioned thus far.
I'd personally go with either an axe or a hammer; both have crushing power, and will still keep it even when dull. The axe would be preferable, but in case of getting caught in close quarters the hammer would be easier to effectively swing.
Although if you can get infected by simply being splattered in blood, a long flail would likely be best. You don't need to swing the whole thing for it to be effective, and you'll maintain distance.
Of course- as Max said- best to avoid zombies whenever possible. That depends entirely upon their senses. Vision and Smell would be the first to go, since they rely upon functioning organs that will be decayed. Touch probably wouldn't work either, but perhaps they'll retain a sense of pressure. Hearing is really the only one that would last, since the primary elements for that are bone and cartilage.
So- logically- noise should be the only thing that'll attract them. In any urban area (where the zombies will be plentiful), just set off any car alarm, walk away, and you'll be fine.

Light saber, Revolcane, some sort of greatsword, nano-armor.
Light sabers and the Revolcane can cut through zombie flesh instantly and weight almost nothing.
Greatswords do not rely on a sharp blade to cut, but instead rely on the weight of the blade along with normal sharpness to cut.
Nano armor makes you into a zombie cyborg thing but hey you're still alive. You will also be fueled by Wakamoto power with MAKUSHIMAMU SPEEDO, MAKUSHIMAMU ARMA, MAKUSHIMAMU STURENGTH, CLOAK KIDOU.

Probably makes me one of the few people here who can say katana as a weapon preference then~

Aren't Katanas very brittle though? I though they were primarily used for short battles.(quick draw)
Personally I would want Gordan Freeman's suit and a hammer, or other blunt instrument.

Not particularly brittle- but they definitely weren't made for long, drawn-out battles of the clashing of swords.
They were intended for one-hit kills; one good slash, and then move on to the next target.
So as far as zombie-killing goes, they wouldn't last too long- since you'd have to be dismembering them. Bone would wear the edge awful quick.
So if you were to use a katana- best have the equipment and expertise to maintain and sharpen it.
