Fakku subscription payment type is illegal in my country

Greetings,

I'm writing this for all who can't seem to pay with their VISA Cards for a Fakku! Subscription, maybe you all got the same issue as I do.

I've been trying to become a subscriber since October last year and having only "payment denied" messages, I've finally decided to ask my Bank about this matter.
After a long wait I was able to talk to an accounting agent who explained to me why I can't pay Fakku! a monthly fee.

In Luxembourg(EU) it is considered illegal for fraud and security reasons, to pay for any type of content that demands you to confirm you're a resident in the US or any other country outside of EU or Luxembourg.
( The Fakku! payment window demands a ZIP code )

In other words, as long as the Fakku! payment window is demanding a residential confirmation (ZIP, Address, Location, etc) I can not become a subscriber in any way.
The agent suggested me to use PayPal but from what I could fish out in the Forums Fakku! got denied from PayPal.

It is a shame not to be able to use Fakku! after 7 long years of membership.
And until Fakku! is able to come up with a different type of payment it will remain like so.

Well... it's been 7 good years.

Thank you.

So... Luxembourg doesn't have a postal code? It's asking for your postal code not a us zip code since your card isn't associated with an us zip code. Just like if i was in another country it not going to ask the postal code of where im at but the code of where im from with that card.

If this was the thing then their wouldn't be users in the EU on the subscription nor Canadians or Mexicans or Aussies. I know of all 4-7 of these right now. They don't have an us zipcode.

He is not saying that he does not have a postal code. He says that apparently it is illegal in luxembourg to use the postal code for subscription services (according to the agent). I have no clue if that is true or not.

He said outside the EU or Luxemburg. It leads me to think that it's not postal code of a EU country problem. If the postal code of any country was the problem then i miss understand the question. That being said any other eu nation outside the people who don't have a real credit card or a bank who doesn't allow adult subs don't have this issue. That why i assumed he didn't know the whole postal code to zip code issue. Now does Luxemburg have this policy.. i have not idea since i don't know a person from there on site with a sub. French, dutch, german, Uk, Swedish and where ever former cccp nation luin is from... Estonia or Lithuanian?

Never heard anything like this before, pretty much all services I use require me to put at least my zip/postal code during payment. Do you have anywhere I can read up on this?

I am from europe myself and never had any problems with using my credit card for the subscription service. It does sound a little far fetched to me that something like this is illegal. I mean, isn't the zip code/postal code entry exactly there for security reasons? I would love to hear how this can be abused for fraud.
Not that I know for certain since I don't know much about the laws in Luxembourg, but it does sound a bit strange to me.

I get the feeling that he just mistakenly thinks that, despite living in Europe, he has to input an US zip code.

For that field, you put in your postal code. This would be your postal code in the EU (the one that is tied to your visa card), not some random postal code from the US.

I used my postal code several times, without success and ofc I know that a zip code can be a postal code.

No it's not illegal to use a VISA card for subscription use, it is if the subscription payment model is asking you to input a zip/postal code that's outside of the EU / Luxembourg. That's what the bank agent said to me.

Luxembourg has real credit cards, even if countries are members of the EU it doesn't mean they don't have different rules than other countries.

I also never had any issue to pay/sub on some other site, even porn sites.
Besides here on Fakku! and as to why I don't know, I only know what the Bank Agent told me.
That if a subscription payment model is asking me to confirm I'm living outside my country or the EU that it's not allowed (the agent really did say illegal) and the payment will be denied.

I'll look-up if I can find it on paper for you.

I don't know the specifics but here in Luxembourg we have to confirm that we are non USA resident with everything Bank related. Why ? I do not know.
Fact is I can pay/sub in any darn porn site but not on Fakku!.

No I don't, I've tried since October last year.
You can trust me when I'm telling you I've tried many things, including my very own postal code.

Anyways, I apologize if I wasn't clear enough on my explanation.
I did use my own 4 digit postal code several times and all I've stated on my OP was told to me by the Banking Agent.

But thank you for your attention my friends.

Did the system give you any form of error when you tried using your 4 digit postal code? Sorry, trying to narrow this down.

Yes it did.

I've just tried out subing, this is the error I get after inputing my name, street, city, 4 digit postal code and VISA info.

There was a problem.

This transaction has been declined.

Edit ---

This is just me speculating:

What if we assume that the payment/subscription method your using doesn't accept 4 digits postal codes as valid ? It would explain why my Bank Agent said " forcing you to state you live outside the country " because if my 4 digit Postal code doesn't get accepted it would mean I have to use a longer one.

This would explain why other EU countries can subscribe to Fakku, their postal codes are longer than 4 digits ones that Luxembourg uses.

Nah, that should be fine. It doesn't have a minimum length requirement for postal code. We think it might have something to do with a lack of country of origin not being asked. We're gonna play around with some things to see what happens on our end.

Silly question. Did you also use L-? Random example. L-9350 for HAEREBIERGSTROOSS, BASTENDORF. Because my people in andorra won't receive letters or packages without the AD in the postal code. ex AD501

Silly indeed.

I've used it ofc :)
And in luxembourg you don't need to use the LXXXX if you wrote the country name.

Ex: 1234 Luxembourg

If there is a way to make this work I would be so happy ! TvT

I have the same problem -
i had a VISA pre-charged CC and after a long wait-time (and a lot of help from jacob) i was able to get an answer from my CC-Company for my problem today.

The Support of my CC said that i'm not allowed to use my VISA pre-charged CC with FAKKU anymore - sadly they forgot to tell me the exact reason why i'm not allowed.

I asked them and i'm still waiting for a new answer - but most likly i either assume that they banned FAKKU or there is some other problems involving verification or law-issues

That sucks.

It's a shame Paypal denied Fakku! would make things so much easier.

So I've noticed that you've added "Country" to the subscription model.
I tried to sub but I still get the same error.

I've tried with my normal and my pre-paid VISA Card and none of them works.

Damn and I was hopping it would work out this time !

Are either of you that are having issues able to purchase the books on the store with the same type of card? Is it purely the subscription service that is failing? If I can have someone try this I can narrow it down to a very specific issue.

Since I thought it shares a relation, I would like to say that my subscription suddenly got cancelled. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with me moving and getting a new billing address, but could their be another reason? Should I just re-subscribe?

It could be the billing info, such as your zip code with your credit card, canceled the subscription. I'd attempt to resubscribe with the new zipcode, and if that doesn't work you would probably have to call the bank/credit card to find out why.

Cool, cool. Thanks for the advice.
