Asian and want to grow a beard

I would consider not being able to grow hair quickly a blessing. I have to keep up an image because of my job and having to shave every day sucks ass. I would grow a beard, but I hear maintaining them is even worse than the hassle of taking a sharp blade to your face every day.
I really don't think using engineered hair growth products with harsh side-effects as a substitute for natural growth is a good idea. Think about it logically, what promotes hair growth and what prevents it from degrading? Quick bit of research on the internet pulled up these methods:
Most of the research articles I looked at pointed to getting enough sleep, eating healthy foods, having a balanced diet and not drinking coffee or smoking. Simply put, your hair cells will generate faster if you have a healthy body, common sense thinking about it.
The other primary thing to take a look at is not damaging your pores, skin and hair. Using too much soap will destroy the outer layers of your skin, leaving the depths of your hair pores exposed to potential damage, not only will this decrease the rate of your hair growth but also lead to hair loss earlier on in life.
Notably Apple cider vinegar isn't distilled and it contains lots of minerals and enzymes that can help your hair grow if you apply it to your skin. At the same time, applying it removes any dead bacteria or skin cells obstructing the pores hair grow out of and it's much less damaging to your skin layers than soap is.
Look a bit deeper, there are a lot of methods out there you can turn to without resorting to to those products, I'm sure of it.

I'm actually jelous of you.By the time I turned, say 15-16 I had to shave two or three times a week to keep a smoth face.
Now, past 24, I would have to do that every other day, but I decided to just screw it.
When it gets in the way, I mow it down with an eletric shaver.
Trust me, it's not fun.
I love my beard

Go into the forest with an axe and plaid shirt with suspenders and start cutting down trees, the beard will arrive shortly after.
