Asians vs Blonde Girl

Surprised no one has talked about it, it's been in the news quite frequently in the past few days. My religious community had a huge talk bout it and opinions were spilt. In any case, i'm interested in sharing opinions in what we feel is an appropriate response to this kind of a problem

I hadn't actually heard about this until now, but judging from the article and the video people need to calm the fuck down.
I mean sure, that girl was nothing short of retarded for posting that video but the response was even worse, I keep getting astounded by how petty and easily-offended people are, sure, that video was very tactless and anyone can see why people would get offended by it; I would no doubt be offended by it if it were directed at me, but does that mean I would go as far as threaten her family and hunt her out from the University? No, absolutely not.
And as you said, shit like this is going on every day, if these people have the time and energy to hunt down some chick that doesn't know when to keep her mouth shut they should project on someone who actually deserves it, like Fred Phelps for example. (But that's a discussion for another time.)
No doubt she should apologize, as it seems she has done, but I guess an official apology would be the politically correct way to go. On the other hand, the extremists that have chased her out of UCLA and have threatened to kill her and her family should be convicted for that, since that shit should absolutely not be tolerated either.

I don't even know that she should have to apologize. Sure, it would be nice and I personally would like to see her apologize, but she can say whatever she wants. People pay lots of money to see the exact same thing at comedy clubs.

Not sure if this should be in Serious Discussion or not. I'll leave it here for the time being, though.

Well the girl is ignorant in the first place and the way she made herself sound in the video kind of gives things to pick at. Not to mention its the internet where you can cyberbully/troll the crap out of people who expose themselves here.
There are so many of us Asians that the chance of a few of us being rather irrational and sending threats is quite great. Not to mention it could be just to scare the crap out of her (which it has been as she has asked the UCLA security to escort her to classes).
But with that said, this bimbo sort of brought it on herself. Sure people are loud and what not. But bitch, do you got to make a video ranting for what? 2 minutes on the loud Asians? Why single out Asians? People are loud in every university library? And it happens UCLA=U C Alot of Asians (got it from another video) lol. So the general population would be asians. Let's say if you go to BYU, you'd probably get the loud white guy. Not to mention, you can't say she was being a bit racist with the "Ching Chong Ling Long Ting Tong" or whatever the hell she was saying. I mean I get mad at the annoying loud brown kids at my school but I'm not going to make a video about how loud they are. I'd just politely ask them to STFU. :) And if they don't then you tell security to ask them to leave if you really can't study or whatever with noise.
And not only how loud people are but then she had to go and attack the way our families help us out. Its called we have a different culture than white people. We tend to be fairly family oriented, and another youtuber has hit this point already.
To make a long story short, she's just a ignorant girl who studies political science. It's kind of her own fault, she brought this problem onto herself instead of doing the reasonable thing and maybe telling campus security to kick the asian dude out after she asked him. Funny thing too, she is in political science, she should have thought about the consequences to her actions before posting the video. I have no sympathy for her but I do agree, threatening her was a little overboard. Its actually scary how something on the internet can fuck up your life.
INTERNET SERIOUS BUSINESS.
Oh and she has apologized after she got scared shitless by the threats that she got. But it doesn't really seem sincere since she's pretty much doing it after the fact that she got threatened.
LOL@epiphany in political science, not really much to learn in those courses. (Before you attack me, I take 3 politic courses for my electives cause they are easy and boost my gpa).

Straight to the point, this shit happens.
We are in America, there is free speech and all that jazz. And as Neko said, people pay comedians to basically say the same thing.
Sure, it is a bit rude, but its a rant.

I do not care at all about what she said about the Asians. I feel for the people who are offended, but, again, I really don't care one lick about how she talked about your people. Freedom of speech is without a doubt the most important thing about America, and her being threatened for expressing her opinion is downright shameful. I don't agree with what she said, but I would die for her right to say it, without being forced by fear into a farce of an apology. The people who threatened her are real jackasses, who are worse than her. She may be ignorant and immature, but at least she doesn't act like a child trying to dictate their world, and throwing violent tantrums when displeased.
She is also expressing commonly felt feelings around the campus I'd think. I agree that she went about it the wrong way, but I bet no one talks in the library now. I laugh whenever my friend tells me a racist joke, but if I've actually done what the joke implies all black people do and it's negative, I check myshelf. Making sure that I am not defined by the stereotypes of being a young, black male. I don't smoke weed, I don't fuck everything that walks, and I still really love kool-aid, maybe the few Asian that do talk in the library can learn to in your own words STFU, and everyone else, leave the dumb blonde alone.

You can throw the freedom of speech line around as much as you like but there's a time and place for everything. You wouldn't walk in the middle of a ghetto and call the next black guy on the street a 'Dirty Nigger' would you? It's pretty obvious what she did would cop her copious amounts of flak.
It's just a matter of common sense, unfortunately she lacks such a quality.

Not a very smart girl, aye. But does that justify running her out of campus? Isn't the whole point of higher education meant teachering her about what she did wrong and why she shouldn't approach things that way? She's not gonna get any smarter when she gets threatened and becomes a dropout for it... The problem here isn't so much restriction of free speech, as it is the violation of human rights. You should not have to have your life threatened and your future ruined for an online rant that did not cause harm to person or property. She's not singling out a specific person either, so it's not a personal attack. Just expressing your opinions, no matter what it may be, should not gather a response this severe.
Why didn't the offended parties just went and discussed things with her? If they're as civil as they believe themselves to be, then why wasn't a calmer method chosen for ending the problem peacefully? By reacting in such a childish and violent manner, they're just proving true all that she said and far more.
What she said wasn't right, I as a Asian agree, but I would not have ever frightened her in any way, shape, or form for it. Those people should have taken the time they spent scaring her, and use it instead to talk to her, so that she may learn why she's in the wrong. Sending the poor girl into hysterics won't make her any wiser, and the ones using pitchforks to shut her up ain't doing much better, either...

Ignorance is bliss. Although after just a few seconds of hearing her, I knew she was going to say something stupid. I think chasing her out was a bit extreme. At most, I think I would have just given her tons of shit for making a video. Not to the point of death threats, but enough to make her regret what she said.
EDIT: How the hell did a girl like her get into UCLA btw? By that standard then, I should be in fucking Harvard.

Because UCLA needs to fill a quota of stupid people to offset all the genius there. It just so happens that she is white and blonde.

Well fuck, next time I'm dying my hair blonde, and acting the way I do in IB. Had I know it was that simple, I should have applied back in October....or whenever it was to apply.

What a disgusting bitch. She deserves what shes going through. Racism is not needed in this world.
0
Neither is harassment or death threats. They do nothing to stem the tide or racism and at worst can just further justify it in the minds of those who have racist tendencies.
0
I suppose the death threats is going over the top but she deserves the harrassment. She herself brought this upon herself. Shes in university so she should be mature enough to know what the consequences were if she were to make a video of herself talking about asians like that.
