If anything, harassing her will only fan the flames. People can be stupid sometimes. Forget and let go, I say.

People make mistakes. Hmmm. In my opinion, public Apology in front of all will be the best option :).

Public apology would be ok for me but then again I ain't asian so yeah death threats are not the way to go

I just don't feel like what she did was wrong. She was irritated from people getting on her nerves in the library and decided to rant about it. It's no different than you going to lunch with your friend and bitching that the table next to you needs to shut their baby the hell up. It's just mindless ranting, you get pissed, you let it out. And considering how many rants there are on YouTube, she was just following the technological age she's growing up in, in choosing where she put the rant.
I don't think it was racist. There just happens to be a large population of Asians at her school and besides the fact that they're talking loud, they're talking in a language or languages she doesn't understand. If she was going to a school in Chicago, it could've just as easily been Polish or Spanish. English speakers ears are pricked much more by loud talking in another language than loud talking in English. It was just annoying to her.
That's it. She was annoyed.
She deserves to be killed, have her bikini pictures all over the news, and run out of school for that? No.

She might of brought it upon herself, but people should be mature enough to ignore her and not harass others regardless of the stupid things they say. If we all got harassed for the stupid things we said, we'd get harassed for the rest of our lives.
She put herself on the internet, pretty much the equivalent of telling the world, you kind of expose yourself to such nonsense since everyone is an anon on the webz :P And I mean she PUT herself (face, college info and what she studies) on the internet so it wouldn't be hard to find out her name the way 4chan works. Not to mention the internet is not the best place to find mature people. You don't do something stupid and borderline racist and expect people to be rational cause that probably won't happen.
She should have thought about what she did before she exposed herself to the internet. It's like getting some disease like HIV, you SHOULD have thought about wearing a condom or not banging the girl with HIV, but you didn't so your going to have to end up paying for it for the rest of your life.

Curious and Wondering
She may have done that Asian rant out of whatever she may have as reasons, and it was an ill-advised way to vent her frustration, and posting it on YT is bad enough as it is and lacks common sense. But all the douchebags who harassed her and chased her out of UCLA should be criticized as well for blowing this out of proportion.
C'mon, I mean, death threats? Shit just hit the fan. She already made a public apology, and apparently it wasn't enough to appease these offended people. She brought this upon herself, I agree on that, but the amount of flak she got from that single video was way overboard than what she should have gotten for it. It's like seeing a pickpocket being sentenced to a federal prison for 50 years for stealing a thousand bucks from an Asian tourist. Jailed, yes, but the sentence is not right. Same for this bitch.
Maybe a public spoken apology in an open park in front of UCLA's Asian population could've been sufficient, or suspension, or anything the UCLA could mete out as an acceptable disciplinary action.

I went to the University of Caucasians Lost among Asians, and honestly everyone talks on their cell in the library. EVERYONE. Also, I'm sorry to say that the great majority of students don't actually study in the library--it's more for going on FB and napping/catching up with friends between classes. What--it's true. It wasn't just me, I swear. The solarium is a great place to nap with the nice plushy couches and all.
She has the right to free speech, but freedom of speech does not mean freedom from the consequences of your speech. If you put up a tasteless, racist rant on youtube, and if it has been decided that it violates campus policies, then you deserve to be kicked out of the school. (It wasn't deemed a violation in this case, though.) If you say something stupid, you cannot be freed from the consequence of being ridiculed. The right to free speech also works both ways--we have a right to call her a racist idiot if she IS being a racist idiot. She was annoyed, yes, and she made a mistake in posting the video, and now she is reaping the consequences of that with the myriad of response videos and catchy remixed songs.
As the post girlfountain linked says, her views are symptom of a larger problem in that everyone who is not White is not considered "American" even if they were born here. BTW "ching chong" is incredibly racist, especially against Chinese people.
That said, I don't condone the sexism and threats against her either. I honestly think sexism was a part of why this whole thing blew up the way it did--if she were ugly and had small tits, would the video be passed around as much? I don't think so. We should expect maturity from BOTH sides (on the internet? Not happening, but still, we can hope). Posting her info was uncalled for. So are all the comments calling her a bimbo and hoping she gets killed/raped. Ignorance should not be fought with more ignorance with a side of violence and harassment.

I think the fact that this incident hurt people enough for death threats is crazy, and that they should be forced to apologize,I mean people talk shit about black people on comedy shows all the time, and i've never gotten a public apology, people are taking this too "too" personaly. I bet if i went on the web and ranted about how i hate how white people get off easier with the police, i wouldn't get any flak and the fact that it's true, just like those asians were truly on the phone wouldn't make it anymore give a shit. that's life, you ignore the douches and secretly believe in some of the stereotypes in general

Kinda sounds like those Asians were breaking the rules of the library.
But she doesn't need to mock them either.
Both are in the wrong her more though.

Man who cares? People make prejudice remarks all the time, it's people that overreact that are more of the problem than the people who make them. Let things go already.
Btw this thread has been made 2 or 3 times already.

The minority goes nuts when the white majority oppresses them like that, but she was a dumbass for doing that in the first place. She was going to UCLA, figured she would have learned in her history courses not to do something as dumb as what she did. Regardless, the death threats were unnecessary.
Reminds me of the LAPD cop who shot that Guatemalan illegal. Blacks, hispanics, and other minorities gathered to protest the justification of a Hispanic cop who shot a Hispanic illegal. So many asshats in society today; it is astounding.

Like how the old saying goes,"If you can throw a punch you better be ready to take one." She posted an ill rant and in doing so knew that it would enrage some people. Anything topic that involves race will always be blown out of portion. I hear racist Asian remarks a lot where I live, does it effect me? Of course not, because it's normal. Why should you waste your time to start drama?

haha... i use to study in library too.. and it was so noisy... but i kind of like that because i can't really concentrate if it is too quiet..
but in this case using internet as an outlet for your frustration? not sure that was a wise move as it did leave the person open for alternative discussions, not just locally, but I am also guessing it went international.
Fair enough the person was using a cellphone in the library.. that was wrong and she did the correct thing by asking them to be quiet, but if it continued then it should have been put through to security.. as other people may have been disturbed as well.
For every action there is a reaction.

The US was founded on basic human rights, one of which being the freedom of expression. Though you might not like what others have to say, they deserve the ability to at least express their opinions. No matter how asinine you may believe their stance is, you should not infringe upon their right to speak their minds.
With that being said, I find her video and her personality in general abhorrent. Her attitude towards fellow students and neighbors shows nothing but sheer ignorance towards other cultures and upbringing. Granted, having families over ever weekend may prove to a major irritant if they are loud, but that could be easily remedied by simply ASKING if they could stay quiet. Though she at no point mentioned noise from the other apartments. As for cell phones in the library, I have to agree that it is fairly rude to do so without good reason. But if they were truly a problem, then she could have complained to the librarians or, if possible, study elsewhere.
As my own opinion, she has the competence and mental maturity of a child. She felt the need to insult the way a people speak (which I found ignorant and offensive), and then felt the need to put a video online to share her views and expected no possible repercussions. Though I found her attitude distasteful, I do not believe she should have felt the need to leave school. But she should have expected some level of hate for her remarks.
As a side note: Trekki, you may want to spell check later.

I know racism always happens and I learn to dealt with it.
I know that using the cellphone in the library is wrong.
But the main problem here is why did she put the video while the japan earthquake happened? It's like she's flaming? or something?
That's why I wasn't surprised if she got death treats we Asian people tend to care to much about family more than anything else.
theres a saying family comes first here.
You know, it's really hard to go to another country just to study and not seeing your family for a long time or get a job in a foreign country to help your family. It's painful and sometimes being too homesick or being bullied on another country is to much.
I don't know how other European country or other english speaking country acts about this but.
We tend to be really too close to our family more than anything else.
My answer: "let her go and leave her alone." people like her should be ignored but at the same time why do that in the time of the japan crisis that's what's bothering me.
