blackmail help.

Hi everyone.

this guy recently tried to scam me and i got proof of it and posted on the forms and took down this guys rep. he claims he knows a gm on the forms so he can get my account banned and also claims that he is gonna hack my computer send a virus and etc. honestly i dont know what to do i thought i did the right thing here and guys threatening to hack me. currently i only have macfee virus protection. is there anything i can download to hide my ip and an antivirus protection to protect my self? he is threatening to destroy my computer.

Unless you have a open port, somehow got a virus or he has control of your computer from some means their only a front attack via message viruses and worms.

If you want a better Av then look at avast or avg since it free and if you want the pay versions has a good firewall that doesn't affect the native windows firewall but kind of functions like two layers of fun and if search the net you can find crack licenses for avast.. which i do use on this machine. They're programs to block ip and hide them but the simpleness is using a proxy from the original connection aka network connection proxy set up.

The fact that he said he going to do that seem like a empty bluff since a real blackhat/hacker wouldn't say but do and the whole gm thing.. a good system mod wouldn't use his power just because his friend got caught doing stupid things.

Just be wary of files and opening stuff.. scan before you open zips/rar/exe.

You could always call the police. Black mail *is* a crime and so is unauthorized access to computer systems. If you have records of all his conduct so much the better. You could also contact the administrators of the game/site you're using.

Write a letter of complaint, use formal language and warn them that unless they take the appropriate actions you will sue them, both for allowing such conduct as well as for facilitating black-mail.

Meh don't do anything it's like someone saying they're going to report you, it's just a scare tactic for kids to scare other kids.

Yeah or any weird emails.. mostly don't click the links or attachments. their websites and add ons for your browser that tell you it a bad, infected site/link... mine just blocks it with a 'Oh shit screen'. Anal scaning and worry paranoia is the best av. Seem a wrong, weird site or link.. don't open.

Don't get me wrong if a good hacker has your ip then they could do stuff and knows his stuff then they can do some shit.. i just fuck with people and auto shutdown their computers.. and only people i know. Emails do record your ip number in the headers so the system mods and cops can track threats and computer crimes... if he stupid to use the email from his home and not proxy to hell then he can't even do anything but maybe ddos and send threats.. ddos won't work in this case.

seriously, alert the admins, tell them that you want action taken, and if they refuse to take any action, when you alert the authorities on this guy, you will on the forum/ sue them for enabling a blackmailer etc etc

If the guy was a cracker he would have already taken OP's personal information ages ago. He wouldn't be trying cheezy scare tactics.
Nor would he bother with childish threats like giving OP 1337 down rep which can be easily achieved with access to an admin account or a script on multiple accounts.

The threat alone put it off... this is (Almost) clearly nothing more than a joke, a stupid bluff move...

thing is that account on gamefaqs was 6 years old with tons of karma. karma= rep and trust. so that means its harded for me to do trades etc

You said you got proof, didn't you? Use that... plus if you can't ban him, ignore him.

why the hell did you get banned? if you got banned cause of his 'admin' friend, take it up with another admin. that is bullshit. that admin should not have any rights. almost as bad as my gaming community, where the admin owns the server, and abuses shit cause he can.

i told the another admin and was said that u were banned for flaming. i was like wtf i just post on the forms to let others know he was a scammer and i got banned along with the proof and he got banned there goes 6 years of rep and karma

banned for 'flaming' that's a very VERY overkill ban.. if you email him again, ask him how such a ban came to be, in most forums, if one flames, they get a warning.. why do I get an instant ban? surely i should be sitting -On the very most- a few day ban... this is rather rediculous, all i did was let other people know of a scammers identity.. and boom, i was banned. i find that very illogical. please to explain?

If you do ask it like that, try to come across calm.. don't get angry, being angry makes everything worse.

see on gamefaqs on certain games u can do giveaways and others u cant. so i ended up doing a give away and it was against that rule so i was warned then i post all the links with images etc for this guy scamming and yeah
